Location: Sevier and Blount Counties
Commitment: 1–2 hours per month
Reports To: Volunteer Coordinator
Companionship (a.k.a Direct Care) Volunteers support hospice patients and families through companionship and social interaction.
What does this mean? You get to be someone's friend! It's as easy as showing up and watching a movie, playing bingo, or listening to a story. You don't need to have experience to make a huge impact.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Visiting patients and filling out a visit note
- Making weekly calls to families to check whether they need medical supplies or prescription refills (*as needed)
- Keeping clear and open communication with the Volunteer Coordinator regarding patient needs
- Maintaining confidentiality and upholding hospice care standards
Qualifications:
- 18 years or older,
- Strong listening skills and a desire for meaningful connection
- Willingness to complete standard onboarding requirements, including health and background screenings
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to complete provided training and orientation
