Who We Are

The Tipton County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a FEMA-trained volunteer organization serving Tipton County, Tennessee. We operate in partnership with local emergency management, fire departments, law enforcement, and community organizations to strengthen disaster readiness and community resilience. Our members are trained citizens who commit to serving their neighbors during emergencies. Guided by national CERT standards and the Incident Command System, we function as a disciplined, organized volunteer force that supports—never replaces—professional first responders.

What We Do

We prepare individuals and families for disasters and train volunteers to provide safe, structured assistance during emergencies. Our training includes disaster preparedness, light search and rescue, disaster medical operations, fire suppression, damage assessment, and emergency communications. During incidents, CERT members support local authorities by stabilizing situations, providing lifesaving assistance within their scope of training, and helping coordinate response efforts until additional resources arrive. We also conduct community outreach and preparedness education to ensure Tipton County is ready before the next crisis occurs. Our mission is simple: build a safer, stronger, and more resilient Tipton County through trained volunteer service.
