Who We Are
Mission: Through this ministry, we are conduits to see God’s love transform lives. We advocate to promote restorative justice and disciple people affected by incarceration with Biblical principles, teaching them how to reenter society and live out these principles in their home, church, workplace, and community.
Vision: We envision Tennessee healed from the effects of incarceration and addiction, seeing all walk in their identity and truly living, through the faith, hope, and love found in Jesus Christ.
History: Women with a heart to see lives restored met as a group of jail ministry volunteers in 2016. We all felt passionate about helping people after incarceration. As we were seeking to find resources for the ladies & men after incarceration, we realized there was a huge need for housing, training, clothing, and spiritual formation. With a recidivism rate of 86% in our surrounding rural county jails and a recidivism rate of nearly 50% in our state prisons, we decided to turn our vision into a mission. We started with an outreach discipleship class once a week, and we volunteered to take them to services and provide the means to pay for the services. After a few years of experience helping after incarceration, research and development, and training with multiple re-entry programs, we opened the doors to our first re-entry home in 2019!
What We Do
We currently have a 12-18 month home for women coming out of incarceration and addiction called Meadows Lodge. At this home we:
-
Disciple women in establishing a relationship with Jesus and realizing their individual potential according to God’s plan for them. (Jeremiah 29:11)
-
Help women heal from past traumas
-
Provide a safe, loving home environment
-
Provide clothing, identification, food, love, and hygiene during the program
-
Work opportunity development: interviewing skills, computer skills, resume building
-
Provide women with opportunities to give back to the community and adopt a positive, responsible lifestyle
-
Train in life skills: cooking, cleaning, budgeting, furthering education, parenting, coping skills, marriage
- Help the ladies start their new jobs, budget, pay off debts, and save for their future
-
Help women plan to obtain and maintain permanent, safe, and affordable housing after program completion
-
Give women opportunities to share their faith and encourage others in following Christ
