Learning to speak English is a vital skill for those new to our community!  You will be working with adult student/s who need to improve their English in a small group (4-5) online. Please join our volunteer team of tutors!  Training and materials provided. Training will take place in August for the Fall Semester.

Help in sorting and hanging clothes, restocking shelves, cleaning bathrooms, sweeping and mopping

Creating content ideas or social media calendars

Designing posts or reels using Canva or templates

Writing captions, hashtags, or stories for upcoming content

Brainstorming for 2026 launch strategies, campaigns, or partnerships

Helping prepare for Giving Tuesday, awareness days, or seasonal events

Lakeshore Park Conservancy is always in need of volunteers to help with daily maintenance and care for the Park. Join us for Weeding Wednesday to help our grounds crew with various projects within the Park. Volunteers should wear weather appropriate clothing & shoes and bring a water bottle. An email will be sent the day prior to your shift indicating where to meet!

Volunteers are needed to assist in preparing sack lunches for those in our community fighting food insecurity.

Tasks can include food prep and cleanup.

Dress code:  Must wear pants and closed toe shoes, as well as be modestly dressed (no short shirts) If you do not dress appropriately, you will be asked to leave and come back with proper attire.  

*No children under the age of 18 years old.

Our volunteers work out of our Maryville warehouse in the Product Recovery area or our Repack Clean Room where we process donated and bulk food for distribution, to help feed our East Tennessee neighbors.

Volunteers also help in non-food project support roles such as cleaning, letter stuffing, and miscellaneous admin duties. 

No experience necessary! Training will be provided on-site at the beginning of the shift.

*Volunteers must be at least 10 years of age, and anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult chaperone.
** Please note, for groups that have minors ages 10-15 among the participants, we require a 1:5 chaperone to minor ratio. Please ensure that your group size matches this ratio with adult chaperones (18+) and minors.

MEDIC Regional Blood Center is currently seeking volunteers to assist in scheduling appointments with whole blood donors. Volunteers will use MEDIC office phones and will be asked to make several calls per shift. 

All volunteers must undergo a criminal background check, no exceptions. MEDIC staff will send the background check link to your email address within 48 hours of your registration to volunteer. 

Volunteers will also need to sign waivers during their first shift. Volunteers will be given a volunteer ID badge to wear while they work at the center.

We can't wait to have you at Helping Mamas Knoxville! Please make sure to park in our parking lot which as you pull in will be on your right. We allow Children who are 8 years old and up to volunteer with a parent.  We have a lot of items in our warehouse that could be a hazard if they fell over so this is just to keep everyone safe. 

As a warehouse warrior you will help sort donations such as clothing and baby supplies. You can also assist with creating/decorating period kits, repackaging open/loose diapers, and organizing books, toys, etc. We need your help to keep our donations organized and going back out to children who need them!

MEDIC Regional Blood Center is recruiting volunteer drivers to pick up blood coolers from blood drives and centers.

All volunteers must undergo a background check, and drivers must complete a 2-hour orientation on blood-borne pathogens and the process for picking up and delivering units and completing necessary paperwork.

Volunteer drivers must have a valid driver's license and proof of insurance. Drivers must be 21.

Our main center and laboratories are at 1601 Ailor Avenue, and all products will be taken to this location.

Shifts will start and finish at the Ailor Avenue Center.

Scott's Gulf Wilderness staff needs your help!

Join us as we work on sections of Rylander Cascades Trail for routine trail maintenance.

This could include: removing trees, roots, or rocks from the trail, tread work, and/or general trail improvement. This is a strenuous, labor intensive trail day so please plan accordingly.

We honor all TN promise hours.  If you need to complete community service or volunteer service hours to fulfill a requirement for scholarships, graduation, fraternity/sorority obligations, etc., this is a great opportunity to get those hours.

Volunteers should plan on meeting park staff at the Virgin Falls Trailhead (2080 Scotts Gulf Road, Sparta, TN) at 10:00am.

Park staff maintenance lead will brief all volunteers on the location in the park where the work will take place and the project/task to be done.

The Memphis Museums of Science & History 's Education Department is hosting "TN. STEAM Festival" at the Pink Palace Museum the weeks of Oct 22-24 and 29-31.

  The TN. STEAM Festival brings science, technology, engineering, art, and math to life at events across the state!   In conjunction with the Tennessee Festival, the MoSH/ Pink Palace will be offering STEAM activities for school groups on October 22,23,24th and October 29, 30.31st.  

Students can participate in hands on steam- based activities with different community partners each day.   MoSH needs volunteers to make this the best TN. STEAM FEST in the West TN area.

Volunteers will assist community partners with tabletop activities, vendor check in, directing teachers and students around the event, staff easy hands-on science-based activities tables, help with school group lunch time rotations, and daily break down.

Volunteer dates are October 22-24 ad October 29-31 Volunteers can sign up for 8:30am-12:00 and/or 11:00am-2:30pm. Please indicate the date you would like to volunteer when you sign up.

MoSH/ Pink Palace Museum

Beaumont Magnet Academy provides weekly food bags for students who need food support over the weekends.  These bags contain easy to make food and snacks, as well as fresh produce ensuring that kids have food when school is not in session.  Glen Oak Missionary Baptist Church packs the nonperishable items from Second Harvest for us.  Beardsley Farm and the Rotary Club of Knoxville add the fresh produce to the bags 1-2 times a month.

To make this process work, we need help!  We need volunteers to transport our food bags from Glen Oak Missionary Baptist Church to Beaumont Magnet Academy or to Beardsley Farm on the weeks they will be adding produce.

Volunteers will pick up the food bags in the morning and drop them off at BMA or Beardsley Farm depending on the week.  We usually have approximately 100 to 130 bags.  Rolling bins are available to move items to and from your vehicle at each location.  

I will reach out to you to let you know if you will be delivering to the school or to Beardsley Farm.  Dates for Beardsley Farm will be confirmed by beginning of September.  First Beardsley Farm date is 9/18.

Volunteers needed to greet folks coming for food (groceries) assistance, assist with setting up food displays, and helping our guests select food items. Any amount of time between 9am-1pm is good This pantry provides food to about 250 families each day.

Bledsoe Creek State Park added a pollinator garden in 2019 with the support of Friends of Bledsoe Creek State Park and a grant from the Iris Fund. With careful selection of native perennials and self seeding annuals this area has flourished. Located adjacent to the Visitor Center, it serves as a wildlife habitat, educational tool and visual interest for passersby. In every season there are tasks we can use volunteer assistance with to maintain the pollinator garden! In the spring we apply mulch and soil amendments if needed. During the summer and fall we'll be weeding and ensuring the plant markers are visible. In the winter we will put the garden to bed being careful to maintain a habitat for pollinators to overwinter. This is a family-friendly opportunity appropriate for all ages!

The Kingsport Public Library is looking for volunteers to help keep our library welcoming and organized. Volunteers assist with tasks such as shelving books, straightening shelves, cleaning, and pulling holds for patrons. Your time and support help us provide excellent service to our community!

Volunteers must complete and clear a free background check prior to volunteering. All adult volunteers must sign a volunteer waiver and complete a form authorizing a background check. You can pick up this paperwork at the library, or we can email it to you to fill out and send back electronically. Be aware that background checks may take 5-7 days to process, so it's best to wait to sign up for a shift until we get that processed.

Healing the MidSouth is looking for a volunteer plumber or handyman to help us bring affordable, functional water access to our garden space.

The Situation: We currently have no irrigation on-site, but we do have a water meter located directly beside the garden. We're exploring the most cost-effective way to connect to this source for regular garden use, since this will become a monthly utility expense for our nonprofit.

What We're Looking For: Advice or assistance planning/installing a simple, low-cost water hookup,   Possibly installing a spigot or hose bib connected to the meter.   Recommendations on sustainable watering solutions (e.g., drip irrigation, rain barrels, etc.) We do have a rain barrel currently but when there is a drought of rain water that's an issue.

MoSH/ Pink Palace Museum

This workday will focus on repairing drainage areas on the inner or outer loops. Activities can include clearing debris, digging, placing rock and building structures. Walking in and out of the locations will be approximately 3 miles. Participants are required to wear closed toe shoes and gloves. Protective eye wear is recommended. You should bring enough water and snacks to get through 3 hours of work. We will meet up at the maintenance yard located off of Warner Rd. David Cloud will be onsite as your crew leader for the day.

Through Friends of the Parks at South Cumberland & Savage Gulf, volunteer must have completed two shadow sessions and passed the online Trail Friends quiz, and wear their Trail Friends gear during their shifts. Trail Friends greet and answer a range of visitor questions, encourage safety on the trails including proper footwear, water supply, dogs on leashes. Trail Friends are encouraged to get visitor feedback regarding any potential trail safety issues (downed trees across trail, mud slicks, etc), campground conditions, etc. Safety issues and emergencies are to be reported in post-shift survey and to Trail Friends Coordinator.

The Museum of Appalachia's annual Fall Heritage Days educational event is Friday, October 23rd, Thursday, October 30th, Friday, October 31st and Friday, November 7th. Volunteers are needed to help in a variety of ways - assist demonstrators and crafters, monitor children's activities, act as docents and facilitate parking. Choose to volunteer one day, or all four. Senior Ride Nashville is growing our volunteer driver team! Drivers use their own vehicles to transport seniors to community centers, medical appointments, grocery stores, beauty/barber shops and more. Help a senior get where they need to go and make a friend in the process! Volunteer shifts are flexible and scheduled at your convenience using an easy online tool. SRN provides rides Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Complete the on-demand volunteer training on our website to get out on the road soon!

Interested in learning to work with birds of prey?  Join Roan Mountain State Park for a series of volunteer workdays with Park Ranger Phil Hylen and our park owls: Shiloh and Sunshine.  Volunteers will help the park to clean owl cages, complete minor aviary maintenance, and assist with the care of the owls (obtaining weights, checking housing conditions, and learning their stories to educate the public).  Each shift will begin by meeting Ranger Phil at the Park Headquarters building to sign in and brief for the shift.  While 3 volunteers will help to clean, a handler will be present to work with the owls directly and train cleaners on skillsets necessary to work directly with the owls.      

Shifts vary on time and the maximum number of volunteers.  We will be trying to conduct two volunteer days per week to allow for more enrichment time with the owls and volunteers.

The Carter Compassion Center (CCC) will be partnering with several agencies to help victims of the hurricane resettle. For six months starting in late March, the CCC will need volunteer support with taking applications, making/receiving calls and other administrative functions. We are expanding our hours to 4+ hours a day. Volunteer shifts are typically a two-hour minimum. 

Help us bring some cheer to isolated seniors, seniors in nursing homes and/or disabled individuals in our communities by sending them heartfelt letters, letting them know that we care and haven't forgotten about them.

We are looking for uplifting letters that will bring their recipients some joy!

This month we are looking for letters or cards around the theme of Fall or Halloween. You can incorporate the theme through art, by making your own themed cards and within the message of your letter.

If you are interested in sending letters and/or art to seniors in the community, please sign up below and include in your response (in the notes) how many letters you would like to write. I will contact you with specific instructions for the letters and the address to send them to. Children are welcome to contribute also (an adult is required for minors to sign up).
 
We are looking to have this round of letters completed and received by their recipients by 10/31/2025. Please allow a couple of days for mailing and distribution.
 
Volunteers will be required to have their own materials for the letters and any additional artwork you'd like to add, as well as stamps to mail the letters on hand (or you must be able to take them to the post office). I will try my best to provide you with one address for your letters so you can mail them together in a large envelope. 

Please allow 48 hours for me to get back to you with the instructions. 

If you are in need of community service hours, I am happy to confirm your hours for you. Please submit pictures of your letters as proof. We will be tracking and logging the actual time you spent working on the letters/cards and do NOT assign a specific number of letters per hour. Please check with your institution if they have specific requirements of how many letters you need to complete to get your hours approved.

Join us at Cedars of Lebanon State Park on the first Saturday of each month, unless otherwise stated, for volunteer filled activities. We need your help to assist the Park Ranger and Staff on various projects around the park. There are so many projects where we need man power and that's you! 

Various projects include:

Invasive plant removal, trail blazing, trail building, mulch spreading, wood splitting, park gardening and weeding, planting, plant restoration, painting, cleaning, park beautification (litter pickup), recycling, and so much more. 

So please be prepared for anything. If you have large groups, please register as a team and email Ranger Bridgers prior to arrival, so that we can better prepare for your group.

Also please be prepared to be in the outside and possibly in the woods or on trails. Wear sturdy shoes, bug spray, and sunscreen.  Please bring water and gloves.

The Oak Ridge Cedar Barrens will again be the site of exotic invasive plant removal as we conduct our fall cleanup, our third and final cleanup of the barrens this year. Located next to Jefferson Middle School in Oak Ridge, the Cedar Barrens is a joint project of the City of Oak Ridge, State Natural Areas Division, and TCWP. The area is one of just a few cedar barrens in East Tennessee, and is subject to invasion by bushy lespedeza, leatherleaf viburnum, privet, autumn olive, mimosa, Nepal grass, multiflora rose, and many native woody plants that threaten the prairie community. Our efforts help to eliminate invasives and other shade-producing plants that prevent the prairie plants from getting much-needed sunlight, nutrients, and water.    

Volunteers should meet in the Jefferson Middle School Parking lot at 9 a.m., with sturdy shoes, loppers, gloves, and water.  We will also have some Uprooters, loppers, and gloves to share. The work session will conclude at noon with a free pizza lunch for volunteers.

Help us finish projects for ADA Campsite. 

If you are interested in habitat management or need volunteer hours, join us on November 1, 2025, at 9 AM. We will meet at the Burgess Falls kiosk and then walk to the end of the gravel road. We will be removing small saplings from an area to allow more sunlight to reach the forest floor and reduce plant competition. The increased sunlight will benefit emerging oak and paw paw species. All tools and PPE will be provided. Please wear weather-appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes, and bring a bag with water and snacks.

The Memphis Farmers Market kicks runs every Saturday from 8am to 1pm through November 1st. Located at the corner of GE Patterson Avenue and Front Street, the market features a vibrant showcase of locally sourced produce and food items, along with handcrafted kitchen and garden goods from talented Mid-South makers. Each week, we rely on a dedicated team of 30 volunteers to help make the market run smoothly. Volunteer opportunities include staffing the info booth, working the coffee cart, and assisting with market setup and breakdown. It’s a fun and rewarding way to support local farmers, makers, and your community. Whether you're shopping, volunteering, or just soaking in the atmosphere, we can’t wait to see you at the market!

Our volunteers work out of our Maryville warehouse in the Product Recovery area or our Repack Clean Room where we process donated and bulk food for distribution, to help feed our East Tennessee neighbors.

Volunteers also help in non-food project support roles such as cleaning, letter stuffing, and miscellaneous admin duties. 

No experience necessary! Training will be provided on-site at the beginning of the shift.

Volunteers will arrange flowers at a health and rehabilitation center and distributed them to the patients, of whom are elderly or recovering from a short term injury or surgery. The flowers were picked up from a wholesale florist and would have other wise been discarded. Each Saturday this event takes place at one health and rehabilitation center and the schedule rotates through 8 centers so that each place is visited every two months.

The work is on streambank stabilization and soil reclamation that helps farmers and landowners affected by hurricane Helene. The Weekend Warrior is for anyone who wants to join us for a day or so. The Memphis Japan Festival is a fun, family-friendly, interactive and hands-on experience of Japanese culture. The Festival will be held outdoors, rain or shine, at the Memphis Botanic Garden. Festival highlights include traditional and contemporary Japanese music and dance, martial arts demonstrations, cultural lectures, arts & crafts, merchandise, children's activities, sumo-suit wrestling, tours of the Japanese garden and a variety of Japanese cuisine featuring special menus from local restaurants and food trucks.

Join us every Sunday at the Sadie Ford Heritage Farm to help us keep this special place beautiful. We rely heavily on volunteers to help the farm and the gardens. 

Every Sunday be prepared to help with the gardens, weeding, watering, composting, and even harvesting. You can also keep what you harvest. Help take care of our chickens and their coop, maintain our 1 mile loop trail. and assist keeping the exhibits and farmhouse tidy and neat. We also have various projects including creating a new wood working shop, grist mill, and interpretive center inside the barn, all of which require volunteer help. 

We love our Farm and we want you to love it too!

Please wear clothes to get dirty in, sunscreen, and bug spray. Please bring water. Park will provide gloves and tools. If you have gardening tools and kneepads, bring them. 

There are no public or ADA restrooms. We do have two portable restrooms available.  You can go to the main park for restroom facilities. 

Notes in Nature is hosted by Arts, Culture and Creative Economy & Outdoor Chattanooga. We have teamed up to host an "ArtDoors" musical adventure that is free, fun, and open to all ages. This is a self guided walk through Greenway Farm trails to discover and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature as well as musical performers along the trails which may include blues guitar, a keyboard or possibly banjo music.

To make this immersive experience a success, we need enthusiastic volunteers to help with event logistics. You'll be the backbone of the day, helping with setup, tear down, and musician assistance (getting performers water/snacks, radioing for restroom breaks, and helping with simple setup).

This is a great chance to be part of a vibrant community event and enjoy the beautiful park setting.

We're asking volunteers to commit to one (or both!) of the following shifts on November 2nd, 2025:

Update to Trout Stocking at North Chickamauga Creek Gorge State Park. 

Due to water levels at North Chickamauga Creek Gorge State Park, the trout stocking for Oct 26th has been postponed. We hoped the previous rain would add enough water, but the creek level is still low. Depending on upcoming rain, the stocking will be Nov. 3rd or 4th. An email regarding this change was sent to all recipients on 10/24/2025.

The Vine Volunteer Collective is looking for a few extra hands to help us refresh and reorganize two important spaces at Vine Middle — our Community Care Closet and Staff Supply Room!

Join us in making a difference at the 2025 Chattanooga Walk for Epilepsy! This community event brings together individuals, families, and organizations to raise awareness and support for those affected by epilepsy in Southeast Tennessee and Northwest Georgia.   

Volunteers play a crucial role in making walk events like the Chattanooga Walk for Epilepsy run smoothly and feel welcoming. Here are some areas where volunteers can offer support:

- Roles begin at 8:00 AM; event starts at 9:30 AM, expect to be finished by 1:00 PM 

Roles couldinclude: 

Our storybook trail is a pollinator waystation, but it has become overtaken by trees. The reason we don't want trees in this area is because they compete with our pollinator plants for sunlight. Help us restore the habitat to increase biodiversity!

This event is recommended for those ages 16 and up who want to learn about ways that we can help nature.

This event will last 3 hours and we will be using loppers to cut saplings and take off the extra branches, leaving a smooth piece of wood.

Gloves and loppers will be provided, but feel free to bring your own! Be sure to bring plenty of water, dress for the weather, and wear sturdy shoes.

In the event of inclement weather (rain/snow/ice), this program will be cancelled.

Program participants will need to be able to do the following independently or with assistance of a companion or adaptive equipment:

· Tolerate the elements including temperature for 1-5 hours (depends on volunteer commitment).

Come help remove invasive species on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at Window Cliffs State Natural Area. We will meet at the kiosk at 9 AM and try to return by 2 PM. The area we will be working in will require you to walk past three creek crossings. It will be about a 2.5-mile hike there and back with a 300-foot elevation change. You may or may not be able to rock hop across the creeks, depending on water levels. 

The park will provide herbicides, sprayers, mechanical equipment, gloves, safety glasses, and hand saws. You will be required to bring a backpack packed with at least 32 oz of water and snacks/lunch. Please wear weather-appropriate clothing, pack layers, and wear closed-toed shoes while we are working. 

Join us at Harpeth River State Park for a hands-on volunteer day focused on restoring the natural habitat around a pond at Hidden Lake. Volunteers will help remove invasive plants to protect native species and improve the ecosystem. Please bring your own gloves and water. All tools and instruction will be provided.

Our Reading Ranger Story Trail panels are beloved by our youngest visitors. To help them last for many more seasons volunteers wash them and report any damage from falling branches or overzealous readers. Meet at the Park Residence to collect supplies for a leisurely afternoon on the shaded, paved half mile loop.

If you have a little more time you can check on our Little Free Library located near the bathhouse on Woodchuck Hollow. We periodically straighten the books to be sure it is in good order for our camping community. Do you know someone with carpentry skills? We'd love to add another Little Free Library near the Raccoon Creek day-use area so please have them contact us at 615-452-3706.

Scott's Gulf Wilderness staff needs your help!

Join us as we work on trail to Big Spring campsites.

This could include: removing trees, roots, or rocks from the trail, and/or general trail improvement. This is a strenuous, labor intensive trail day so please plan accordingly.

We honor all TN promise hours.  If you need to complete community service or volunteer service hours to fulfill a requirement for scholarships, graduation, fraternity/sorority obligations, etc., this is a great opportunity to get those hours.

Volunteers should plan on meeting park staff at the Virgin Falls Trailhead (2080 Scotts Gulf Road, Sparta, TN) at 10:00am. Park staff maintenance lead will brief all volunteers on the location in the park where the work will take place and the project/task to be done.

We can't wait to have you at Helping Mamas Knoxville! Please make sure to park in our parking lot which as you pull in will be on your right. We allow Children who are 8 years old and up to volunteer with a parent.  We have a lot of items in our warehouse that could be a hazard if they fell over so this is just to keep everyone safe. 

As a warehouse warrior you will help sort donations such as clothing and baby supplies. You can also assist with creating/decorating period kits, repackaging open/loose diapers, and organizing books, toys, etc. We need your help to keep our donations organized and going back out to children who need them!
