General grounds maintenance is needed at the Boys & Girls Club Virginia site:  weed-eating, lawn work, cleaning up trash. If anyone has a pressure washer to clean our buildings, please notify us because this is a need as well. 

Volunteers are specially trained volunteers who wear many hats within the Zoo. Opportunities in this area include talking with our Zoo guests about the animals throughout the Zoo, conducting private mini Zoo Tours to families, assisting with busses arriving for school field trips, Education Carts, talks for Keeper Training Sessions, assisting during Zoo guest giraffe feedings, and more. After volunteering the required hours, volunteers on this Track can request to train on handling and interpreting utilizing our Animal Ambassadors such as turtles, hedgehogs, doves, bearded dragons, chinchillas, ferrets, rabbits, and more. This Track is flexible in days you can volunteer and physical abilities. If you are looking to volunteer only once or twice a month without a set schedule, this is the opportunity for you.

WHAT?
Youth/Family volunteers will practice their interaction skills helping our young Zoo guests engage in interactive play in our Nature Play Playground. Shifts are either 10am to 12:00 noon, or 1:30pm to 3:30pm Wednesdays through Saturdays.

WHO?
Youth ages 8 to 17 years old. A parent or guardian must accompany each youth ages 8-15 for the duration of their shift.

The Ramsey House, once known as the "finest home" in East Tennessee, is a small, volunteer-driven historic house museum that thrives with community support. Volunteers play an essential role in daily museum operations, guiding tours, leading educational programs for children and adults, assisting with special events and festivals, helping in our gift shop, or even lending a hand with landscaping projects.

New volunteers receive full training, so whether you’re comfortable leading tours or prefer working behind the scenes, there’s a place for you here. By joining us, you’ll help share the stories of the Ramsey family, their dependents, enslaved individuals, and all who lived and worked on the property.

Our museum was built in 1797 with Tennessee Pink Marble and Blue Limestone and is situated on over 100 scenic acres just 7 miles from downtown Knoxville. As a small, privately funded 501(c)(3) organization, we rely on dedicated volunteers to fulfill our mission and preserve this incredible history.

CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates. These advocates are specially trained volunteers represent the best interests of children in juvenile abuse and neglect court cases. CASA of the Tennessee Heartland is a local, nonprofit organization dedicated to the service of abused and neglected children in Anderson and Blount Counties.

CASA of the Tennessee Heartland is also looking for volunteers to serve in a non-advocate capacity. This opportunity is for those who are interested in volunteering with CASA but feel that advocacy is not their preferred form of service, or that they do not have time to be an advocate. While advocate volunteers and non-advocate volunteers take on different roles and responsibilities, they all work toward the same goal of serving Anderson and Blount County children.

Volunteers who are interested in helping with fundraising, appreciation events, office/administrative tasks, and community engagement are encouraged to apply.

CASA is looking for volunteers able to commit to at least one year of service as Court Appointed Special Advocates. The 30 hour training and 3 hours of court observation prepare future CASAs for their role as advocates for children in abuse and neglect cases in Juvenile Court. CASA volunteers are everyday citizens that judges appoint to advocate for the safety and well-being of children who have been removed from their homes due to parental abuse and neglect. They stand up for these children and change their lives. CASA volunteers listen first. Then they act. Volunteers get to know the child and talk with everyone in that child’s life—parents and relatives, foster parents, teachers, medical professionals, attorneys, social workers and others. They use the information they gather to inform judges and others of what the child needs and what will be the best permanent home for them. Being a CASA volunteer does not require any special education or background, just a heart for children and a willingness to speak out and represent their best interests.

Description/Purpose: We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is an avid and experienced gardener to help us maintain our historical kitchen and herb garden here at Cordell Hull Birthplace during the summer of 2023! As a volunteer gardener, you will assist in maintaining the historical outdoor kitchen and herb gardens so we can inspire and delight visitors with quality plants and teach them the history of the site through these gardens.

Responsibilities: Work with park rangers and other seasonal staff to maintain our historical kitchen and herb gardens adjacent to the Hull Birthplace Cabin.

Required Skills/Tasks: Watering, weeding, tilling, able-bodied, and willing to teach and learn, willing to take guidance, enjoy being outdoors, advanced gardening knowledge is preferred.

Time Commitment and Schedule Details: We are open seven days a week from 9AM until 5PM, we are flexible on the days you are able to come and the hours you are willing to volunteer. This volunteer opportunity will be ongoing from mid-May until the end of September.

Additional Information: Being flexible and able to work in various gardens. One by One is looking for women to volunteer to serve as mentors to pregnant and new moms. We provide all of your training at no cost. We match you to one mom. You will talk/text with your mom weekly and meet with her monthly throughout her pregnancy and until her child turns one. We provide you with the curriculum to discuss at each meeting at no cost. Our curriculum covers baby health, wellness, development, and safety and includes activities moms can do with their babies to promote bonding and development so that their children will be kindergarten-ready when the time comes. Mentors also share lessons on parenting and life skills and help connect moms to other resources if needed to assist with housing, transportation, education/job training, counseling, etc. We are in need of women willing to mentor moms in-person as well as women willing to mentor moms virtually using platforms such as Facetime, Zoom, etc.

The farm features an early 20th century farmhouse and outbuildings, a (retired) horse, chickens, native and ornamental gardens, orchard, and composting operations.

The Dave and Louisa Miller family came to Ripshin Mountain in 1870, having leased the land from General John T. Wilder. Over the following 90+ years, 3 generations of Millers lived a subsistence farming lifestyle characteristic of those who populated the lands that now comprise Roan Mountain State Park. Throughout the warmer months, park interpreters offer tours of the Miller Farmstead to share the story of Roan Mountain's pre-park history. 

We are seeking volunteer tour guides who are interested in telling the story of the Miller Farmstead to park visitors. Interested volunteers must be able to:

Tour volunteers have the option of dressing in period clothing, subject to site manager's approval.

The Miller Farmstead was built in 1908 and is preserved as a reminder of the communities that populated these mountains in the early 20th century. Because of staffing limitations, we rely on volunteer service to support our farmstead programs.

We are seeking living history enthusiasts to demonstrate historic crafts, farm work & trade skills at the farmstead. If you have an interest in historical research, costuming, and skills, we'd love to help you develop a living history program to deliver at the Miller Farmstead this summer.

Purpose: The purpose of the opportunity is to create a monitoring system for our trails that can provide quick repairs and improve safety on the trail. It allows volunteers to provide important information to park rangers of trail issues, or safety risk on our trail that needs immediate attention. 

When: You can do this at your own leisure. No set time or trail for this. 

Where:  All trails

What to do: Hiking one or multiple trails and either reporting issues or fixing issues yourself. Examples of issues that you can fix are clearing debris of trail such as lose rocks, tree limbs or other items that may impede your hike and removing trash/litter from trail. Examples of issues that you would report would be, down trees over the trail, hazardous trees, bridges broken/not operating correctly, trail markers missing, and any hazards you think should be reported to a Ranger. (Trash pick up is better during the spring on trails next to lake. When spring rains bring the lake back up. Down trees are all year but more severe during winter and early spring)

After your hike please report your hours back on here this gives you credit and allows you another confirmation that the hours were completed if you need volunteer hours. It also allows state park to keep track of volunteer hours at our park and throughout the state. After you report your hours please email Justin.Vaughn@tn.gov about details of your hike. Be as detailed as you possible can about the issues you encountered, such as what trail you were on,  approximate location, size of trees, and how severe you think the issues is. You can even send photos of issues to this email if you want. All this informations makes park staff better prepared for the trail issues which saves time, money and makes for quicker fixes.

We have a multitude of container and traditional gardens leading up to and surrounding the Miller Farmstead. Over time, we'd like to convert each of these plots into arrangements of native and traditionally-relevant perennial plants that will provide eco-services to local wildlife and be beautiful to look at for our visitors. 

We are currently recruiting regular service volunteers to adopt small garden plots to maintain on a regular basis. Maintenance can be as little as tackling weeds in an existing plot for half an hour twice a month during the growing season, or as much as designing appropriate plantings and working with staff to renew a bed from start to finish.

This is an opportunity where experienced gardeners can work relatively independently, but we are happy to provide training and direction to inexperienced gardeners where needed. Bring your own tools and gloves, or use ours. 

If you'd like a smaller project to manage that will make a big difference and be seen and enjoyed by millions of visitors, we welcome your help. 

Friends In Need Health Center needs someone to research grants for the clinic in the field of health, dental, and mental health.   Could also help to write the grants for submission.

We have an immediate need for auxiliary volunteers. It would be helping with cleaning cages, dishes, laundry or food prep. Individuals who are eager for more can become an animal care technician. This requires training and commitment to be able to care for and handle animals. We also have many other opportunities for individuals to help with depending on their interests and abilities. As an intern for CCSC intern’s will have the opportunity to participate as the administrative/secretarial intern(s). Interns are expected to complete all duties as assigned within the scope of services being provided. Below you will find a comprehensive outline of expected job duties and responsibilities:
General Student Intern Responsibilities:
1. Demonstrate the highest level of professionalism, which includes arriving on time for designated work, notifying the site supervisor of any deviations from the established schedule, and dressing to the standards of the organization and the work being performed. Respect the organization’s reporting structure and follow the policies and procedures of the organization.
2. Communicate effectively with the site supervisor, immediate supervisor (if different from site supervisor), and other staff within the organization; accept and apply critiques and suggestions to daily work in an effort to become more productive and/or efficient.
3. Complete and submit to the site supervisor Weekly Time Logs in a timely manner.
4. Communicate with the site supervisor and/or CCSC leadership team members any issues that may affect performance of assigned responsibilities or the overall success of the experience.
5. Appreciate diversity in all its forms and respect various social and political viewpoints; do not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, color, sex, religion, age, nation/ethnic origin, disability, or sexual orientation.
6. Uphold the Centurion Community Support Center Code and act in an ethical manner when at work.

Volunteers Needed! Auxiliary and Animal Care Technicians volunteer positions needed! Help by giving an hour a week to help with animal food prep, dishes, cleaning cages, grocery shopping or maintenance at our auxiliary level. For those more eager and able to give 4 hours or more a week, take our training and become an animal care technician! Learn how to prepare diet specific meals, provide enrichment, handle and care for animals in our rehabilitation center. There is nothing more rewarding than saving these precious lives and giving them a second chance to live their wild lives.

The Gateway is a recovery community center, based off a national evidence-based model to provide additional supports and on-going recovery to those transitioning from addiction treatment back into the community or who are seeking recovery, but need someone to walk beside them as they navigate a path free from substance misuse. At The Gateway, we provide a variety of services including harm reduction, recovery coaching, treatment and sober living referrals, daily recovery meetings, music therapy, and more.

The Gateway is in need of volunteers for a variety of services. Because of the nature of this work, we do require volunteers to submit an application and agree to a background check. A criminal background does not exclude a volunteer from serving with MDC; however, those with a history of violent criminal acts or sexual offenses are encouraged not to apply.

Bevo Boys Fitness Academy teaches fundamental boxing skills as an intervention strategy to keep youth off the streets. We are seeking volunteers to assist with our Boxing Plus Mentoring Program. 

We need volunteers to provide coaching assistance, youth mentorship, and help youth with homework during after-school program sessions. 

Eligibility:

Training: Volunteers must complete the Stewards of Children training before beginning to volunteer with Bevo Boys Fitness Academy. 

Orientation: Volunteers must complete one week of orientation with a coach to become familiar with participants and to acquire general knowledge necessary. 

Commitment: Volunteers are asked to commit to at least 40 service hours a year. 

Hope Hospice & Palliative Care is seeking volunteers to provide 1:1 companionship and/or participate in group activities with our patients residing in assisted living facilities and in their homes. Activities that volunteers provide range from talking, reading, playing music, card & board games, arts & crafts, as well as assisting with group activities such as bingo, bible studies, performances and much more!

Volunteers with Hope are truly appreciated by our patients as they love attention and entertainment. Our patients have expressed they are grateful for volunteers as their presence brightens their day and makes them feel valued. Volunteering with Hope provides flexibility with scheduling, making it perfect for those with busy schedules, and for students in need of volunteer hours. Volunteer must be able to provide transportation.

Once accepting this need, you will be contacted by the Hope Volunteer Coordinator to schedule an initial meeting. A background check and other screening documentation will be reviewed during the initial meeting. Per Medicare requirements, all volunteers must have a current TB test within the past year. If you do not have a recent TB test or have never been TB tested, Hope will assist in providing this requirement. If under 18, an adult will need to be processed as a volunteer and provide accompaniment. Volunteers will work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator and be given ongoing support by the Volunteer Coordinator as well as other teammates on our interdisciplinary team.

All those interested in Volunteering will go through at least 5 days of training. We ask that at least 2 of those training days be on a week day if possible. 

Raise Your Hand Tutoring provides free academic intervention to students in Cheatham, Dickson, Hickman, Robertson, Williamson, and Wilson Counties. We serve several local elementary and middle schools that would benefit from your help as a volunteer tutor. As a volunteer tutor, you will work alongside a teacher to provide small group reading intervention to our students.

We offer flexible scheduling with several locations either in the morning before school or after school. Our sessions are year round with a Spring, Summer, and Fall session - You only have to sign up for one hour a week for the duration of the session.

We are seeking adults with experience to serve as merit badge counselors. Background checks and training provided. 

We're searching for caring Volunteers to provide companionship and socialization for Hospice Patients. We also need kind helpers to give families a break when they have things to do outside their home.

Being a Hospice Volunteer is about showing compassion and being there for others. It's a very special way to spread kindness and help those who might need it during difficult times.

We would like for these visits to be made weekly but have no minimum or maximum time required. 

Requirements to Volunteer:

Patient Greeters are needed to welcome and assist the patients of the Regional One Health. These volunteers will work closely with the Patient Experience Team and check in on patients during their inpatient stay. 

Applicants will need to complete a background check, Occupational Health Screening, and online application.

Note - It is not recommended that court-ordered service hours be fulfilled by volunteering at Regional One Health.

Crossroads Hospice is looking for direct care volunteers to provide companionship and socialization to our patients through face to face visits. Activities that can be done when visiting with patients : talking, coloring, play games, reading, playing music, etc. 

Per Medicare - volunteer can visit a minimum of one time a month for 30 minutes to an hour. If you are able to visit more than once a month - that would be wonderful. 

To become a Direct Care Volunteer - you will need to :

1. Complete an application.

2. Have two reference forms filled out. 

3. Pass a background check

4. Have a TB test completed

5. Go through training at our office. Training lasts between 1.5 - 2 hours. We schedule the training around your schedule.

Streetdog Foundation does not have a facility, so we depend on volunteers to provide loving foster homes for our dogs while they wait to find the perfect family.  Streetdog provides all of the food, toys, medical care and other needed items. Volunteers provide the love!  We are limited only by the number of fosters available for the dogs we rescue.  Help us save more lives!

There are several options for fostering so that you can choose what best fits your lifestyle. Our Foster and Integration teams are ready to help you find the best fit and to help introduce a foster to any other pets in your household. 

Day Trips: Our dogs in boarding long for companionship, so why not take them to a nearby park for a walk, to a dog-friendly patio for some lunch, or  to meet up with some furry friends?

Weekend/Short Term Foster: When long term fosters go on vacations, or if a dog in boarding just needs a break, weekend fostering lets you spend time with a pup without the long term commitment.

Long Term Foster: Fosters open their homes for dogs until they find the perfect family. This can be several weeks to several months.

River's Way is looking to form church based walking groups in order to promote physical activity and the inclusion of people with disabilities in our communtiy. These groups work especially well for senior citizens. We have two goals with these groups:

1. To set up structured walking programs for church members in order to increase levels of physical activity 

2. To create walking groups that build social connections between church members and young adults with disabilities

River's Way staff will meet with church representatives to set up a walking group. We will look at best days and times, opportunities for walking indoors and outdoors and any limitations that walking group members might have. The church will designate a walking group leader/contact person. We will schedule walking dates on a weekly or monthly basis. River's Way staff will meet with walking group members on designated dates. River's Way staff will be accompanied by 2-3 adults with disabilities. The combined group will have a chance to socialize prior to walking for 45 minutes to an hour.  We plan to schedule a celebration/recognition event every 3-4 months.

What is JA BizTown? Fifth and sixth grade students step into a simulated economy to run a city for a day. It’s a high-energy, hands-on experience that helps students connect what they learn in school to the "real world." Before their visit, students complete 12 teacher-led lessons in class

JA Finance Park is a student-led program. Volunteers will oversee and assist a small group of students (as needed) as they work through their life scenario. This is the culmination of a 12-lesson JA curriculum taught in the classroom prior to the day’s simulation.

The School-Based Student Mentor shall communicate with their assigned scholars during the approved designated times, be respectful of the scholar’s instructional time and opinion, serve as a positive role model by modeling desirable behaviors, exude confidence and be able to establish appropriate boundaries, be encouraging and supportive, and help scholars develop a milestone plan beyond education and their disadvantages. 

The In-School Visionary Club Mentor shall assist in teaching an entreprenuership curruiculm to students that have an interest in small business/entreprenuership. 

The responsibility of an after-school tutor is to help scholars learn by reviewing content with them, explaining how to solve problems, and checking completed work. You may also help scholars develop study skills and organization techniques to help improve their academic performance and overall confidence.

Do you have a heart for our neighbors who are experiencing homelessness? Join Nashville’s robust network of community leaders who are working together to ensure everyone receives the care and respect they deserve. By joining Colby’s Army as an Outreach Partner, you’ll be meeting with us on Tuesday mornings to combine forces before going out into the community to provide services to individuals experiencing homelessness and resource scarcity. Ideally, you'd be able to provide a vehicle and we’ll give you a list of locations to check up on our friends - with whom you can take requests and discuss current needs, and we’ll work together to find solutions! If you're unable to drive your own car but still want to get involved, please let us know and we'll make it work.

These volunteers work directly with our lesson participants in mounted and unmounted activities. Some lessons are in our garden or other areas of our farm, and some involve horses. Working with our participants can be the most rewarding thing you will do here at our learning center! Lesson Assistants will be working alongside the PATH-certified instructor to take care of random needs like moving a cone out of the way, or running to the barn to grab fly spray. As Participant Support you’d be walking alongside our horse and rider to sure they’re staying balanced or providing support during unmounted activities.

Volunteers will need to complete horse handling training, leader and sidewalker training, or our non-equine general lesson assistant training. Our 50-minute lesson times are set according to the participants’ schedules and may be adjusted if needed due to weather.

Then Meals on Wheels needs you! We depend on individuals like you to deliver a hot, nutrition meal to homebound seniors. Your smile and that meal may be the highlight of their day.

You can volunteer as little as once a month or you can volunteer once a week or more. Routes typically take an hour to an hour and a half. The average route has around 15-20 stops. Meals are delivered daily Monday through Friday (except for holidays) and meals can be picked between 9am-11am.

Offering up a small portion of your time can make a great impact on the people you will deliver to. They will appreciate your kindness and willingness to make sure they receive a meal. It may be the only hot, nutritious meal they have that day. You are also providing a welfare check as you may be the only person they see that day.
