The Children's Museum of Memphis would love for you to volunteer with us in preparation of our New Year's at Noon event in December. 

On the day of the event, multiple balloon drops will occur simultaneously, and we need your help blowing up these balloons.

Anyone under the age of 18 is required to have their guardian fill out a permission slip, which can be found below. 

Since we work with children, we kindly request that everyone dress appropriately. No foul language or images will be allowed on anything. We also ask that you wear closed toes shoes. 

Since you will be in the back, blowing up balloons, you are able to listen to music, audiobooks, or a podcast with headphones. This is a repetitive task, and listening to something can help the time go faster. 

Working hours can be flexible, so please let us know if you are unable to work the full time.

ReLAUNCH is in need of volunteers 18 years of age or older* to help us serve breakfast, lunch and dinner  under the bridge for our homeless friends in the Day Space, under I40 and Broadway in Knoxville, TN. 

*If you are under 18, you can volunteer sign up to volunteer, provided you sign up and are accompanied by someone who is over 18 years of age.

Some of this service will include trash pickup in the safe space if another agency is serving meals in place of ReLAUNCH.

Help keep the residents of Greene County warm during the winter months. Volunteers haul, cut, and split wood between Monday through Saturday at the corner of North Rufe Taylor Rd and Old Stage Rd and deliver on Saturdays and throughout the week.

WINTER BREAK CAMP ASSISTANT VOLUNTEER DESCRIPTION 

Camp Assistant volunteers at Muse Knoxville work alongside our Education staff to help facilitate a fun, safe, and educational experience for Camp Muse kids. This volunteer is managed by the Vice President of Operations, the Education Manager, and the Director of Education and Exhibits. Any questions or concerns regarding scheduled shifts, hours verification, etc. will be directed to Shelby Cornell at shelby@themuseknoxville.org.  

REQUIREMENTS: After you register for a Camp Muse shift, you will receive an email from Trusted Employees within 72 business hours. You must complete the background check, at no cost to you, prior to one week before your scheduled shift or else you cannot volunteer.

SCHEDULE: This volunteer opportunity occurs before and during Muse’s operating hours. Volunteer shifts are 6-7 hours in length, depending on the specific camp. Shifts are scheduled via Give Pulse, Volunteer East Tennessee, or other volunteer recruitment platform.

This is a great opportunity for volunteers to serve close to home- in their own community. Our truck and staff will arrive with food and volunteers will work together to assist in the distribution of the food items to those in need. Volunteers must be able to stand for the duration of shift, as well as lift, bend and carry boxes to vehicles.

This food distribution is outdoors, please plan to dress according to the weather.

We need paper/styrofoam plates, paper/styrofoam cups, plastic spoons or plastic sporks, coffee, powdered creamer, toilet paper, paper towels, cold weather clothes (coats, parkas, hats, gloves, socks), disposable nitrile gloves, cleaning supplies and disinfectant wipes.

Our volunteers work out of our Maryville warehouse in the Product Recovery area or our Repack Clean Room where we process donated and bulk food for distribution, to help feed our East Tennessee neighbors.

Volunteers also help in non-food project support roles such as cleaning, letter stuffing, and miscellaneous admin duties. 

No experience necessary! Training will be provided on-site at the beginning of the shift.

*Volunteers must be at least 10 years of age, and anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult chaperone.
** Please note, for groups that have minors ages 10-15 among the participants, we require a 1:5 chaperone to minor ratio. Please ensure that your group size matches this ratio with adult chaperones (18+) and minors.

Help Teacher Supply Depot organize inventory for our upcoming shop day, where KCS teachers will be able to shop for classroom supplies free of charge. Shop days are an invaluable opportunity for teachers to ensure that their students have the supplies they need for success.

Volunteers are needed for several different tasks:

Teacher Supply Depot is located at 709 N Cedar Bluff Road, and is attached to Cedar Bluff Preschool. There is parking available in the small lot in front of depot. 

Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes.

Interested in learning to work with birds of prey?  Join Roan Mountain State Park for a series of volunteer workdays with Park Ranger Phil Hylen and our park owls: Shiloh and Sunshine.  Volunteers will help the park to clean owl cages, complete minor aviary maintenance, and assist with the care of the owls (obtaining weights, checking housing conditions, and learning their stories to educate the public).  Each shift will begin by meeting Ranger Phil at the Park Headquarters building to sign in and brief for the shift.  While 3 volunteers will help to clean, a handler will be present to work with the owls directly and train cleaners on skillsets necessary to work directly with the owls.      

Shifts vary on time and the maximum number of volunteers.  We will be trying to conduct two volunteer days per week to allow for more enrichment time with the owls and volunteers.  

The Salvation Army of Knoxville places kettles all over Knox and Anderson Counties, and we need your help to ensure these kettles are raising the necessary funds. Volunteer bell ringers are more than an icon of the Christmas season; they’re the difference between an empty kettle and one that raises the funds that sustain the programs of The Salvation Army all year long.

Volunteer will pick up flowers from florist and bring them to nursing home or connect with another volunteer.

We were so honored to be asked to partner with Keep Greene Beautiful and many other partners to help them address debris left behind by severe flooding caused by Hurricane Helene. This event is in the middle of a gorgeous, whitewater route and most cleanups will take place from land. We will also have rafting experts cleaning from the river! We hope you can join for this uplifting and inspiring cleanup opportunity!

Volunteers will arrange flowers at a health and rehabilitation center and distributed them to the patients, of whom are elderly or recovering from a short term injury or surgery. The flowers were picked up from a wholesale florist and would have other wise been discarded. Each Saturday this event takes place at one health and rehabilitation center and the schedule rotates through 8 centers so that each place is visited every two months.

This is the best choice for any Community Service Volunteers who need many hours!

MEDIC Regional Blood Center is currently seeking volunteers to assist in scheduling appointments with whole blood donors. Volunteers will use MEDIC office phones and will be asked to make several calls per shift. 

All volunteers must undergo a criminal background check, no exceptions. MEDIC staff will send the background check link to your email address within 48 hours of your registration to volunteer.

Senior Ride Nashville is growing our volunteer driver team! Drivers use their own vehicles to transport seniors to community centers, medical appointments, grocery stores, beauty/barber shops and more. Fishing line recycling containers have been installed at each boat dock. The monofilament is collected from recycling bins and cleaned of hooks, leaders, weights, and trash. It is then shipped to the Berkley Pure Fishing company in Iowa. Berkley melts the line down into raw plastic pellets that can be made into other plastic products including tackle boxes, spools for line, fish habitats, and toys. Meet at the back porch of the Visitor Center to receive collection instructions. You will walk or drive to collect the line from the recycling containers and bring it back to the Visitor Center to process the contents as we work to preserve our shoreline, protect wildlife and prevent damage to boat propellers.

Help us bring some cheer to isolated seniors, seniors in nursing homes and/or disabled individuals in our communities by sending them heartfelt letters. We are looking for uplifting letters that will bring their recipients some joy!

This month we are looking for letters or cards around the theme of Winter/Holiday wishes. You can incorporate the theme through art, by making your own themed cards and within the message of your letter.

If you are interested in sending letters and/or art to seniors in the community, please sign up below and include in your response (in the notes) how many letters you would like to write. I will contact you with specific instructions for the letters and the address to send them to. Children are welcome to contribute (an adult is required for minors to sign up).
 
We are looking to have this round of letters completed and received by their recipients by 12/31/2025. Please allow a couple of days for mailing and distribution. If you are mailing letters for a specific holiday and would like them to arrive and be distributed before then, please mail the letters at least 1.5 weeks prior. For example, Christmas letters should be mailed at the latest by December 13th, so that staff at the facility have enough time to distribute the letters to the residents.
 
What do you need to provide? Volunteers will be required to have their own materials for the letters and any additional artwork you'd like to add, as well as stamps to mail the letters on hand (or you must be able to take them to the post office). I will try my best to provide you with one address for your letters so you can mail them together in a large envelope. 

Need your service hours confirmed? Please track and log the actual time you spent working on the letters/cards here in the volunteer portal AND submit pictures of your letters as proof. Please note that we do NOT assign a specific number of letters per hour. At the Connection Center we have multiple ministries that give back to the community through volunteer-led support. Our ministries include:  a food pantry, day center for people experiencing homelessness, connection partnership, and legal advocates. We offer an orientation to learn about all of our ministries on the first Wednesday of every month at noon in our North Conference room. Come see where you can get connected in serving your community! 

Beaumont Magnet Academy provides weekly food bags for students who need food support over the weekends.  These bags contain easy to make food and snacks, as well as fresh produce ensuring that kids have food when school is not in session.  Glen Oak Missionary Baptist Church packs the nonperishable items from Second Harvest for us.  Beardsley Farm and the Rotary Club of Knoxville add the fresh produce to the bags 1-2 times a month.

To make this process work, we need help!  We need volunteers to transport our food bags from Glen Oak Missionary Baptist Church to Beaumont Magnet Academy or to Beardsley Farm on the weeks they will be adding produce.

Volunteers will pick up the food bags in the morning and drop them off at BMA or Beardsley Farm depending on the week.  We usually have approximately 100 to 130 bags.  Rolling bins are available to move items to and from your vehicle at each location.  

I will reach out to you to let you know if you will be delivering to the school or to Beardsley Farm.  Dates for Beardsley Farm will be confirmed by beginning of September.  First Beardsley Farm date is 9/18.

TCWP will sponsor a day of trail maintenance work at Whites Creek Small Wild Area in Rhea County at 10 a.m.  January 10, as part of our ongoing stewardship activities for this TVA Small Wild Area trail. The trail loops onto land that TCWP purchased from Bowater several years ago, thanks to the generous support of our members. Participants should wear sturdy shoes or boots and bring work gloves, loppers, and small bow saws or folding  saws. Some hand tools will be available at the event. Please be sure to bring clothing appropriate for the weather, as well as water, snacks, and/or a lunch. 

Participants can meet for carpooling or caravanning in Oak Ridge at the Gold’s Gym/Books-A-Million parking lot in Oak Ridge (at the end, close to S. Illinois Avenue, near Salsarita’s). We’ll leave Oak Ridge at 9 a.m., or volunteers can join the crew at the trailhead at 10 a.m. We plan to spend three or four hours at the site, but volunteers may come and go as they wish. If the weather is uncooperative—excessive rain, or snow and ice—we will reschedule for the following Saturday.

The Vine Volunteer Collective is looking for helping hands to make our Family Conversation + Catered Dinner a warm, smooth, community-centered evening!

Volunteers will help us serve dinner, support cleanup, and assist staff with supervising the gym while caregivers participate in small-group conversations. Your time helps create a welcoming space where families can eat together, share ideas, and help shape the future of Vine Middle.

WHERE: Vine Middle Magnet School 1807 Martin Luther King Jr Ave, Knoxville, TN 37915.

WHAT: Families will join us for a relaxed, small-group meal and discussion using a simple Stop–Start–Keep format. While caregivers participate in conversations, students can enjoy open gym and games (as long as their caregiver is attending the event). Translators will be on site. Volunteers help us keep everything running smoothly so families can focus on connection.

VOLUNTEER ROLES: (5:30 – 8:00 PM)

Volunteers will rotate or support as needed across three key areas:

1. Dinner Support Help set up the serving line, hand out plates and meals, keep food stocked, engage families with warmth, and assist with light cleanup after dinner.

2. Gym Supervision Support Help staff oversee open gym and games for students during the family conversations. This includes helping maintain safe play, positive interactions, and a calm environment.

3. End-of-Night Clean-Up Assist with gathering trash, wiping tables, resetting the cafeteria and gym spaces, and helping restore the building to its regular setup.

A small team of committed volunteers makes a big impact—your support turns a simple dinner into a true community moment.

Volunteers are needed to assist with food and drink vendor check in at the Pink Palace Science of Beer. Volunteers will meet and greet vendors upon arrival, check them in for the event, guide them to their areas, and assist with set up if needed, and monitor entrances.

If you want to learn more about local beers, great local restaurants, help children learn about science and local history, then you should volunteer for the Science of Beer at the Pink Palace Museum on Friday, January 16, 2026 from 5:00-pm-10:00pm. 

Volunteers will assist food and beverage vendors at their stations, help with checking in guests, assist education staff with table activities, assist with breakdown of event at the end of the event, monitor spaces, assist at pretzel art station, help with maintaining food and drink areas, and more.

All volunteers must be 21 years and over and must remain until the breakdown of the event is complete. This is a fun volunteer event, and all proceeds benefit the education and community engagement department. Pizza, beverages, and snacks will be provided for volunteers.

                                          Staff and volunteers are not allowed to consume beer at the event.

Tucked away in the heart of metropolitan Memphis, Lichterman Nature Center brings nature to life with exciting exhibits, native wildflowers and trees, and a tradition of excellence in environmental education for the public and school groups. Set in the midst of 65 acres of lakes, meadow, and forest, Lichterman is an urban wildlife oasis and home to a wide variety of plants, birds, reptiles, and more.

If you enjoy volunteering outdoors, learning about native plants and animals, and helping educate the public about wildlife, then you should volunteer at the Lichterman Nature Center for our Clean-Up/ Fix Up Saturday. Volunteers need to be 16 years and over. 

Volunteers will help with trail maintenance, cleaning up the Children's Discovery Forest, assist in the greenhouse and plant propagation center, help maintain learning outdoor spaces in the Backyard Wildlife Center, and more.

Rebuilding Together Nashville is our city’s home‑preservation partner, providing critical home repairs by combining skilled construction, deep community commitment, and holistic care so longtime residents stay in the places they love and entire communities remain safe, vibrant, and affordable.

Each year RTN gathers volunteers to celebrate the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday by joining in a day of service. This year we're looking for 10-12 volunteers who can help us realize critical home repairs for a Nashville homeowner. Through our Safe and Healthy Home Improvement program, we are able to help homeowners otherwise unable to afford vital home repairs stay safe and happy in the their homes. Volunteers a vital part of this work, helping our contractors prepare for professional repair work or clean up at the end of a project. 

This MLK Day, please join us as we make a real, immediate impact in the life of a long-time Nashvillian!
