We provide no-cost programming for our students’ children to attend while their parents are learning.

Children’s Program Volunteer will agree to uphold the mission, vision, and statement of faith of Begin Anew. Under the guidance and direction of the Children’s Program Coordinator, this volunteer will:

Some experience working with international populations is helpful in this role, but not necessary. The ability to speak a language other than English is not required.

Class days and times vary by location. All our locations offer evening classes from 6-8pm, and our Franklin location also offers daytime classes from 9am-noon. We ask that volunteers commit to teaching one class each week for an entire semester.

The MOW locations at First Presbyterian in downtown Kingsport and at Waverly Road Presbyterian churches are in need of drivers to deliver meals.

Drivers pick up meals between 10 - 10:30 and usually are finished before noon.  Drivers typically deliver once a month.  While most drivers continue to volunteer with us for many years, new drivers should commit to at least a year (12 one hour shifts total).  Since we all have conflicts from time to time, finding a sub or a swap is easy. The entire route is mapped out for you, with step-by-step directions to go from one stop to the next.  Please join us!

Caris Healthcare loves having special project items to deliver to our patients. Special projects can be made by individuals, school groups, quilting circles and more, and previously donated items include lap blankets, pillows, and cards.  Patients and their caregivers are so appreciative of these gifts and the fact that people have volunteered their time to bring them joy. Special project volunteers will not have patient contact, and items would be collected in our office or at a designated pickup location. Items can be connected to special holidays and birthdays, but there's no requirement, and creativity is welcome!

The Ombudsman Program needs volunteers for visits to the residents in long-term care facilities. Trained volunteer representatives of the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program visit residents in nursing homes or other long-term care facilities and establish a regular presence in the facility. They provide information about resident rights, quality of care, and quality of life to residents and family members. Volunteers also observe conditions, advocate for residents, and handle simple complaints.

A background check and in-person training are required.

This event will be held on the first sunday of every month, with the goal of keeping Rocky Fork's trails and creeks free of litter.  Meet Park Ranger Cory Franklin in the campfire interpretive area, from there we will either go along the road or up Rocky Fork trail in search of litter.

Rocky Fork has the cleanest water of any tributary in the Nolichucky River Watershed. With 2,000 acres of park land surrounded by 8,000 acres of National Forest.  We aim to keep Rocky Fork prestine and would love to have your help!

Gloves and trash bags will be provided but feel free to bring your own supplies.  

All ages welcome! 

These trained volunteers travel to the patient's home to offer support and companionship. Your duties will vary but include sitting with the patient, reading to the patient, assisting the patient and caregivers with light housework, running errands, etc.

Veteran volunteers conduct a memorable ceremony for fellow veterans who are patients of Hospice of Chattanooga. The patient will receive a red, white, and blue afghan, along with a veteran pin with the insignia of the patient’s branch of service, and a certificate to honor the loved one for their sacrifice and dedication to the country.

Hospice of Chattanooga has a very popular pet therapy program that brings smiles to the patients they visit. These animals (and their owners) make frequent visits to hospice patients in both the home, assisted living centers, and nursing homes. If you and your pet agree that you would like to bring joy to people’s lives, get involved. All animals must be pet therapy certified, and the pet owner must go through Hospice of Chattanooga's volunteer orientation and training program.

Grief companions are specially trained volunteers offering ongoing support to the primary caregiver or other family members for up to 13 months after a hospice patient’s death. Grief companions provide support to the grieving loved one through phone calls and visits after the death of the patient. Visits may include trips to the loved one’s home, lunch, or other social activities. Interaction may include talking, capturing the grieving loved one’s story, listening, helping around the house, educating on daily life skills such as computer, banking, etc.

Currently, Hospice of Chattanooga has office locations throughout our 18-county service area. We always need help with office support duties such as mailings, filing records, making copies, etc. In addition, office volunteers are often used to make follow-up phone calls to patients and family members to check in and see how the week is progressing. Chattanooga offices are on Highway 58 and East Brainerd. Others are in Athens, TN; Cleveland, TN; Dayton, TN; Jasper, TN; and Rossville, GA.

Help nurture the spirituality of young people; this is intended for individuals, couples or groups. The Spiritual Life program provides children with an additional outlet for support during their treatment at Youth Villages. The program is sustained by individual and group volunteers from local churches and other faith groups who meet with the children regularly for a wide variety of spiritual and inspirational activities. You can decide how often and when you volunteer to match the needs of your schedule; all spiritual life volunteer activities occur on our Residential Campuses located at:

Based on your schedule and preferences, we will match you with the appropriate children for recurring bi-weekly or monthly volunteer events.

To become a Teach a Skill Volunteer, you must: 

Join the team; this is intended for small or large groups. Participate in an array of recreation and art-based activities intended to teach teamwork, trust and social skills. Depending on the season, activities may include: kickball, drumming, dance, pottery, painting, yoga, basketball, flag football, cheer, canoeing and much more! This is perfect if you are looking for a monthly, quarterly or annual team building event.

To become a Therapeutic Arts and Recreation Volunteer, you must: 

The Youth Villages Runner's Club engages youth in our residential treatment programs in weekly training runs and monthly 5K races. If you are looking for an opportunity to engage with children that have mental, emotional and behavioral needs and also get some exercise, this is the program for you! Our youth adore having someone to run (or walk) with, not only is it motivating, but it also teaches them health relationships and social skills. With weekly and monthly volunteer opportunities on weekdays, as well as the weekends, it's easy to fit Runner's Club into your schedule. 

Weekly Runners Club Schedule: 

Dogwood Campus (2890 Bekemeyer Drive, Arlington, TN 38002): Mondays from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Please note that in order to volunteer we ask that you be at least 21yo or older, willing to complete a background check, confidentiality and liability waiver, vaccination attestation form, and a short, one hour training. 

Our In-Office Volunteers are the first voices our guest families hear when they initially call to ask about our services. These volunteers typically serve for one 3-4 hour block on a week day afternoon. A typical afternoon is filled with initial phone calls, phone interviews for qualifying families (for our emergency shelter program), data input (typing case notes), and providing referrals to other relevant local services and resources. 

Meals on Wheels needs you. We need volunteers to take meals to homebound seniors. Volunteer as little as once a month, once a week, or more often. Routes take about an hour to an hour and a half. We need volunteers in Johnson City, Kingsport, Stoney Creek, Mount Carmel, and more.  Sites to pick up the meals are convenient to the location of the route. 

We are looking for caring individuals to provide companionship to hospice patients who are on service with Caris through the Chattanooga office. Companionship may involve sitting and reminiscing, reading to a patient, or playing a musical instrument to brighten their day. We also have opportunities for certified and trained therapy pets and their handlers to do patient visits. 

Patient care volunteers can choose to volunteer in a facility or in home and must complete in person and online training before they are able to go in the field. Help support patients in need and share your heart with hospice!

Our coverage area includes Bledsoe, Grundy, Hamilton, Marion and Sequatchie counties.

We provide community and owner education and assistance as available and are in the process of creating therapy programs for disabled and chronically ill children.

Job Summary/ Development Specialist:

Responsible for coordinating the full range of activities required to prepare, submit and manage grant proposals. Researches grant opportunities that match the goals and objectives of Faith N Friends. Gathers information and coordinates/writes grant proposals to government, corporation, and foundation funds. Develops and maintains effective, long-term relationships with grantors to facilitate approvals of grants. Follows up with grantors to determine/monitor grant status.

Responsibilities:

Identifies, pursues, cultivates, and enhances relationships with foundations and government agencies in support of funding needs.

2. Researches, develops and writes proposals to secure grants from foundations including the United Way and other grant-making organizations.

3. Collaborates with Faith N Friends to determine needs and identify fundable projects fitting organizational strategies.

4. Coordinates and complies with all grant reporting as required by foundation/corporate donors.

5. Conducts initial review of planned proposals and submission guidelines to determine feasibility; suggests positioning.

6. Assists with other fundraising projects as assigned.

Experience:

Experience working for a nonprofit organization or in public relations, marketing, sales, communication or project management. Corporate fundraising or workplace giving experience preferred.

Experience working with community foundations is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

Microsoft Office, Donor Management System (like Raiser's Edge or Team Approach) is highly preferred.

Other:
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including strong presentation skills. Excellent planning and organizational skills, including attention to detail and data management. Strong customer service orientation is necessary. Demonstrated ability to work well within a team. Qualifications for volunteer positions include:

Proceeds from Retail Therapy benefit the Alleo Health Foundation. Donations help bring comfort to patients and their families in the last chapter of the patient's life. There are many who are not yet eligible for Medicare to cover their hospice care, but who deserve access to the 5-Star care programs provided by Hospice of Chattanooga, including pediatric and perinatal care services, community grief support programs, and care for indigent or uninsured patients and their families. You are helping them live as full a life as possible at this precious time.

Tuesdays we pick up Chick-Fil-A.  The items need to be sorted, bagged and properly dated and put away.  Jason Wagner supervises the process.

RMSP is looking for volunteers interested in hiking and trail building to assist our park with maintaining and improving park trails.  Trail maintenance can be done in a general fashion or by adopting a trail to monitor and maintain on a regular basis.  Maintenance duties include lopping overgrowth, leaf blowing, blazing trails, assisting park rangers with trail structures, and utilizing Avenza Maps to mark any issues found while inspecting trails.

We provide door-through-door transportation for essential trips. This program helps older adults who can walk on their own or with assistance from a walker or cane with transportation.

Operation Backyard, a program of the Knoxville Leadership Foundation, works to strengthen the very fabric of our community by joining materials, volunteers, and homeowners to make needed home repairs. The only way we can do this is by having dedicated Crew Leaders from the community. Crew Leaders are volunteers who work on homes to perform repairs projects such as install ramps, repair access porches, paint homes, and some roofing. The Crew Leaders will work closely with the Operation Backyard Staff to plan for the home repairs. Operation Backyard Crew leaders are individuals that have a desire to help and can potentially lead others to complete repairs all while maintaining the focus on the family we are helping with repairs.

Monroe County Animal Shelter is currently experiencing a large influx of strays resulting

in an overcrowding situation that is causing them to consider what it means to make space, including euthanasia.

 MCFA has worked diligently for years to help save lives by getting animals new homes as quickly

as possible. This has been accomplished by lowering intake numbers through our free voucher SNAP

program, foster care, and education for the public.

Volunteer

We’re always looking for volunteers to help at the store. If you have time, we’d love to have you as part of our “Thrifty Team.”  Stop in sometime and meet our all-volunteer staff.   Learn why they contribute their time and energy to assure better lives for the homeless cats and dogs in our community.  

Duties would include intake of donated items, transport of items, cashier, staging and stocking store.  Flexible shifts.  Store is open 4 days a week and from 10 am t0 4 pm.  Located in Madisonville TN.  Again, we can work with you on your shift or shifts.

Volunteer - MCFA (monroecountyfriendsofanimals.org)

The animal shelter in Madisonville has a minimum staff.  The animals need more care and attention than the staff can provide.  Some of the  tasks at the shelter are dog walking, cat enrichment, socializing, cleaning, doing laundry, greeters and front desk work.  Volunteering just a few hours a week is a huge help.

In an effort to find homes for as many animals as possible, dogs and cats are  transported to rescue destinations, most often out of state, where they are quickly adopted.  Drivers, who can also load and unload the animals, are needed for these transports.

Foster homes provide temporary homes for animals in need. 

Three or four times a year there is an adoption event  (e.g. at a Petsmart store).  Volunteers are needed to tend to the animals throughout the day.  Usually this is  for 3 hours on a Saturday.

Veteran Volunteers can assist our veteran patients by providing an outlet and discussing events that can provide closure to our veteran patients and their families. 

Caris Healthcare is committed to serving veterans by tailoring hospice services to specific spiritual, physical and emotional needs. Our patients are terminally ill and veterans may have a unique need at the end of life.

Caris is part of the We Honor Veterans program which is specifically for veterans that are in hospice care.

Our special project veteran volunteers give back to the community in a very special way!

As part of the national organization, We Honor Veterans (WHV), Caris works closely with our veteran patients and community veteran groups. We provide recognition ceremonies to honor their time in service. What better recognition than to be presented with an honorary pin and certificate than by another vet?

As a special projects veteran volunteer, there are some very special ways you can become involved, for instance: 

Hospice is a special way of caring for terminally ill patients and their families.

We are looking for volunteer drivers to help us transport our refugee clients to and from medical appointments, the Social Security Office, English classes, Summer Camps, etc. Our clients are dependent upon public and community transportation when they arrive in Knoxville, so volunteers helping them navigate the community makes a definite impact in welcoming them to Knoxville.

Bridge Refugee Services is searching for committed volunteers who love working with people and are interested in helping another person start or continue learning English.

As a refugee resettlement agency, Bridge helps refugees start a new life in the United States. English/ESL volunteers are a wonderful one-on-one resource for people as they begin this journey.

Being able to speak English is crucial for refugees as they start their first job and learn about their new community.

Even if you have never taught English, this is a great opportunity to work with an individual or family as they improve their English skills.  Bridge can offer an opportunity for instruction in cross-cultural ESL and free ESL materials for teachers.

Do you have the gift of hospitality? Help us welcome our newest refugee neighbors to Knoxville!

Volunteers help us set-up a new home and create a welcoming space for an arriving refugee family seeking safety and peace in Knoxville. Our volunteers will help us move and place furniture, put linens on beds, hang shower curtains, put dishes in cabinets, and make an empty apartment or house look like a welcoming home for our weary travelers.

If you have a truck or a trailer and can help us move furniture from our storage unit to the new home, we would love to have your assistance! However, a truck or a trailer is not required to volunteer for this role.

The Child Advocacy Center in Lenoir City is looking for individuals who have a heart for helping children.  We are an organization that provides assistance to children and families who have been impacted by abuse.  We provide counseling, forensic interviews, resources and support.  Duties may include answering phones and providing support to clients, occupying children during appointments, assisting with fundraisers, assisting with mailouts and clerical duties.  Volunteers must be 21 years of age and complete a background check and fingerprinting before becoming eligible.  Help us to "Heal the pain of child abuse."

Wilson Rides is looking to expand our Volunteer Driver team! Volunteer drivers are asked to give rides to seniors 55+ who no longer drive, 1 or 2 times per month. Veteran volunteers can provide invaluable companionship to our veteran patients and can also help with special projects to prepare for Veterans Day, pinning ceremonies and more. 

Community Alliance for the Homeless (CAFTH) is collecting new or unused hygiene kits (sample size), survival items, and snacks, packed in new or unused drawstrings or backpacks to give to those experiencing homelessness. Drawstrings and backpacks are given to housing insecure individuals at shelters and during outreach visits. Some ideas of items to include are listed below. Thank you for your efforts to end homelessness in our community and we look forward to working with you!

Using quart or gallon sized resealable storage bags, the items above are typically packaged as individual hygiene kits in drawstrings and backpacks. The following items listed below are added separately based on the season or weather conditions and are packed with completed hygiene kits in drawstrings and backpacks, then delivered to housing insecure individuals in need. SUMMARY:

We are looking for volunteers to ride along with our Food Rescue Staff Members.

Our Food Rescue Drivers are responsible for safely and efficiently picking up donated products from various donors such as, grocery stores, restaurants, farmers, caterers, etc. Donated products are delivered to partner agencies (food pantries, shelters, senior and disabled housing facilities, etc.,) or brought back to Second Harvest Food Bank for distribution. Food Rescue Drivers and volunteers are required to positively act as an ambassador for Second Harvest Food Bank to maintain and build donor relationships, agency partnerships, and community support.

VOLUNTEER RESPONSIBILITIES:

Represent Second Harvest Food Bank in a professional, positive, and efficient manner to increase our distribution abilities, enhance donor relationships and improve partner agency satisfaction.

Work with Staff to safely and efficiently pick up a wide variety of donated products from grocery stores, restaurants, farmers, caterers, etc. on regular reoccurring routes. Food Rescue Drivers will from time to time be asked to pick up “call in” donations in addition to the regular route.

Work with Staff to adjust route accordingly to maximize time, meet the needs of our donors and our partner agencies. Specified times will apply.

Work with Staff to deliver donated goods to partner agencies (churches, shelters, senior housing facilities, schools, etc.) for distribution to the community or bring back to Second Harvest Food Bank for distribution.

Work with Staff to complete accurate reports for donations received and donations delivered daily and provide this documentation to designated staff.

Work with Staff to Provide excellent customer service and communication to donors and partner agencies (grocery stores, restaurants, farmers, caterers, schools, churches, senior centers, etc.) including a timely response to phone calls and emails.

Work with Staff to maintain a clean truck (cab of truck and food storage box) and any other equipment (pallet jacks, hand trucks/dollies, etc.)

 Have fun and enjoy getting to know our drivers, our donors, our agencies, and our food rescue program.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Trails need continued maintenance.  Tims Ford State Park has many miles of trails that have to be kept in good shape.  This is an ongoing need.  If you would like to volunteer to do trail maintenance please reach out to the park and we will set you up with a needed trail maintenance task.  Thank you in advance!

Join MIFA's Meals on Wheels Volunteer Family, and help deliver meals to seniors, primarily elderly women in single family homes, who are home-bound for reasons of age and infirmity. Make a tangible difference you can see in real time in the life of our senior clients- each time you hand them a hot, nourishing meal, ask them how they are doing and spread some sunshine into their day!

Meals on Wheels runs every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. Volunteers arrive between 9am to 10 am to pick up their clients' meals and deliver them with a smile. Each route consists of 10-20 seniors and takes between 1.5-2 hours. However, each route gives you 3 service hours credit.

If you have a few hours free each week or one or two days free monthly, consider spending them with Memphis seniors! Many of our volunteers have been helping our clients for decades. Many grew up accompanying their grandparents or parents, and now bring their children.

Volunteers must have reliable transportation, and the driver must have a current driver's license. Advocate for the rights of residents living in nursing homes, assisted-living facilities, and residential care homes in Shelby, Fayette, Tipton, and Lauderdale counties.

Trained volunteers pay regular visits to these facilities, where they spend time with residents, monitor conditions, investigate complaints, and protect residents' rights!

On Thursdays and Fridays, our MiPhone Buddy volunteers call up to 10 of our senior homebound clients who receive Meals on Wheels. They check-in and let them know we are thinking of them - and provide some sunshine in their, many times, isolated day! Encouraging words can make all the difference! The Memphis Crisis Center needs volunteers that are compassionate and reliable to answer our 24/7 crisis hotline. Free training is provided.  Must be 18+ to volunteer.  Morning (7:30AM-1:00PM), Afternoon (1:00PM-5:30PM) , Evening (5:30PM-11:00PM), and Overnight (11:00PM-7:30AM) shifts available.  We ask volunteers to sign up for recurring shifts, a minimum of once every other week.

We NEED VOLUNTEERS.  Most calls are simple emotional support calls.  We train you how to handle more serious calls.

Our mission is to provide a wide range of thoughtful and fundamental services to families and children during the critical phase of a medical crisis. We serve families referred by medical agencies, by building a network of services and people who ease the burden of life’s day-to-day obligations with compassion and care.
 
Volunteers can support families in many ways through There With Care Middle Tennessee. One essential way to volunteer is to connect directly with the families we serve by coordinating and completing scheduled deliveries of care packages to Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt as well as to The Children's Hospital at TriStar Centennial. These volunteers will be required to complete an additional training and background check prior to beginning service to families. Volunteers can also help by sorting and bundling baby clothes, organizing donations, creating care packages, helping with administrative tasks, and more. Volunteer Position Description

AREA: Sexual Assault Services | Off-site and On-site

PURPOSE & IMPACT: Sexual Assault Advocates have the important job of taking calls from the Sexual Assault Crisis Support Line and/or local hospital(s). Advocates will help survivors with the resources needed to make effective decisions and assist them in navigating crisis, or simply answer questions regarding the services that we offer. Sexual Assault Advocates may also accompany recent survivors at the Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Center on-site SAFE room (sexual assault forensic exam room) or a local hospital Emergency Room if the survivor is in need of having a rape kit / sexual assault examination completed.
