Volunteers needed to greet folks coming for food (groceries) assistance, assist with setting up food displays, and helping our guests select food items. Any amount of time between 9am-1pm is good This pantry provides food to about 250 families each day.

 This is a wonderful opportunity for volunteers to serve close to home- in their own community. Our truck and staff will arrive with food and volunteers will work together to assist in the distribution of the food items to those in need. Volunteers must be able to stand for the duration of shift, as well as lift, bend and carry boxes to vehicles.

This food distribution is outdoors, please plan to dress according to the weather.

MEDIC Regional Blood Center is currently seeking volunteers to assist in scheduling appointments with whole blood donors. Volunteers will use MEDIC office phones and will be asked to make several calls per shift. 

All volunteers must undergo a criminal background check, no exceptions. MEDIC staff will send the background check link to your email address within 48 hours of your registration to volunteer. 

Volunteers will also need to sign waivers during their first shift. Volunteers will be given a volunteer ID badge to wear while they work at the center. 

Schedulers will work at our Ailor Center at 1601 Ailor Avenue. Volunteers must adhere to MEDIC policies, including those for smoke-free and fragrance-free environments. 

Volunteers will be given a script and a call list using our donor platform. 

Volunteers who do not show up for their registered volunteer slot without notice forfeit all remaining slots the volunteer has signed up for. If a volunteer is unable to attend their shift for any reason, please email volunteer@medicblood.org. If a volunteer is kicked from their slots due to a no-show and is still interested in volunteering, please reach out to volunteer@medicblood.org to be approved.

Bledsoe Creek State Park added a pollinator garden in 2019 with the support of Friends of Bledsoe Creek State Park and a grant from the Iris Fund. With careful selection of native perennials and self seeding annuals this area has flourished. Located adjacent to the Visitor Center, it serves as a wildlife habitat, educational tool and visual interest for passersby. In every season there are tasks we can use volunteer assistance with to maintain the pollinator garden! In the spring we apply mulch and soil amendments if needed. During the summer and fall we'll be weeding and ensuring the plant markers are visible. In the winter we will put the garden to bed being careful to maintain a habitat for pollinators to overwinter. This is a family-friendly opportunity appropriate for all ages!

Our school food pantry provides essential support to families by offering fresh produce, shelf‑stable groceries, and household necessities each week. This work ensures that every child in our community has access to the nourishment they need to learn, grow, and thrive. To keep our pantry running smoothly, we rely on volunteers to help unload and organize deliveries. These deliveries often include boxes of canned goods, cases of produce, and bulk items that require moderate to heavy lifting. Volunteers should be comfortable lifting up to 10 pounds and spending some time outdoors while trucks are being unloaded. Your support makes an immediate impact—helping us move food quickly and safely so families can access what they need without delay. Whether you’re an individual or part of a group, your time and strength directly fuel our mission of care and community.

Sunshine Services is looking for volunteers to help with Golden Hour: An Evening to Shine Forward, a special community event taking place on March 27 from 6:00–10:00 PM at the Sunshine warehouse.

Golden Hour will bring together community members, supporters, and partners for an evening of music, connection, and impact as we raise support to expand opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

We are seeking volunteers to assist with a variety of roles throughout the evening, including:

Senior Ride Nashville is growing our volunteer driver team! Drivers use their own vehicles to transport seniors to community centers, medical appointments, grocery stores, beauty/barber shops and more. Help a senior get where they need to go and make a friend in the process! Volunteer shifts are flexible and scheduled at your convenience using an easy online tool. SRN provides rides Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

It is Senior Ride Nashville’s mission to enrich the lives of older adults and engage them in the community by providing affordable and assisted transportation.

Join us in supporting students and families by helping stock, organize, and distribute essential pantry items. As a Food Pantry Volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in creating a welcoming, dignified space where every child’s basic needs are met with care and respect. Responsibilities include: Sorting and shelving donated food and hygiene items , assembling care packages or student snack bags, assisting with pantry inventory and restocking, helping during distribution days with setup, greeting families, and cleanup.

We distribute over 150 alcohol and tobacco retailer packets each year to our local businesses that sell alcohol and tobacco products. Through our dedicated volunteers, we are able to get these packets stuffed with updated guidelines, best practices, ID Coders, Checking Guides, WE ID Signs and Stickers, Buttons, and more. 

Emerald Youth's JustLead Ministry is our youth leadership program and provides a variety of activities. JustLead’s afterschool program for elementary and middle school students includes tutoring, homework help, health/fitness/nutrition instruction, field trips and service learning opportunities.  We are looking for volunteers interested in helping our youth with their homework!

Join us on Saturday, March 28, for a special volunteer day at Duck Island in Warriors Path State Park. As part of the Duck Island Revival Project, we will be working together to dig up and remove invasive plants that threaten the island’s natural habitat. This effort is an important step in restoring native biodiversity and creating a healthier ecosystem for wildlife and visitors.

This volunteer day is part of a much larger restoration initiative made possible by Warriors Path State Park, Friends of Warriors Path, and the Iris Fund. Thanks to this support, we will be removing an obsolete tennis court, creating a vibrant pollinator garden, planting native trees, and revitalizing historic picnic areas. These improvements will help us uphold the high standard of care we strive for in Tennessee State Parks and ensure Duck Island remains a beautiful, sustainable space for generations to come. By joining us, you’ll be contributing to a project that truly makes a lasting difference for the park and the community.

Breakfast will be provided at 8:30 AM, and work will begin promptly at 9:00 AM. The park will provide all necessary tools for the work, and for safety reasons, participants are not allowed to bring chainsaws or power tools. We encourage everyone to wear sturdy, weather-appropriate clothing suitable for outdoor work and the conditions. Gloves and eye protection are strongly recommended, and please bring plenty of water to stay hydrated. We expect to work for about three hours.

Over the last several years, DuPont Park has become a shell of the park it once was. Dead ash trees from beetle infestations, pavilions set ablaze, and park amenities fallen to the wayside. 

The good news is, Parks and Outdoors has received a grant from Norfolk Southern to restore this park for the community! Over the last several months, our staff has worked to bring new life to this area. We are almost ready to re-open it to the public, but we need your help adding the finishing touches!

Activities for the day include:

+ Adding lines to a pickleball practice court

+ Adding new hopscotch areas for kids to enjoy

+ Painting the pavilion

+ Constructing a hammock pavilion that doubles as a climbing structure

+ Cutting back overgrown vegetation

This is a huge project, and we need all the help we can get! Please join us for a day of community, fun, and rewarding work. PLUS, we are providing lunch for all of our awesome volunteers*.

Healing the Mid-South is seeking skilled volunteers to assist with a spring landscaping workday at RTC Gardens. This volunteer opportunity is ideal for individuals with landscaping, gardening, or outdoor maintenance experience who are comfortable using yard tools and assisting with garden preparation.

Our goal is to prepare the garden for the upcoming spring planting season while continuing to improve the space for community use.

Volunteer Tasks May Include:

Cutting small trees or branches (chainsaw experience preferred)

Edging and trimming around garden areas

Volunteers assist with tasks such as shelving books, straightening shelves, cleaning, and pulling holds for patrons. Your time and support help us provide excellent service to our community! From Chetna: For clarity into why these events are being held – a close member of my family has been diagnosed with cancer and they need a bone marrow transplant. To get a 100% match this can be 1 in 10,000 or even greater – it is not easy.  When we learned this, we realized that there are 1000’s of individuals out there that are looking for a donor and the only way they can get support is if we build the registry with as many people who are willing to be a donor.  These donors may not be a match today but someday they could be.  Awareness and willingness to support is key.

The two events my family is hosting is during Holi Events in our community as this will draw a large volume of people for us to engage.

The Children's Museum of Memphis would love for you to volunteer with us during the spring. This would be a weekend shift, and the focus would be on gallery support and programs. Some of the programs would include coding, sensory play, story time, and some pop-up activities. 

If you are under the age of 18, we require that you fill out a guardian permission form first.  Anyone who is above 17 will need to go through a background check. This can take weeks for us to get. No one is able to start volunteering until we have the documents. Please email Paige.whipp@cmom.com for the documents.

If anyone shows up without the required information, you will not be able to volunteer with us and will get sent home. 

Since we work with kids, we ask that everyone dress appropriately. This means no holes in you pants, and no foul images or language anywhere on your clothes. We prefer for people to wear closed-toe shoes and a black t-shirt.

Help us bring some cheer to isolated seniors, seniors in nursing homes and/or disabled individuals in our communities by sending them heartfelt letters, letting them know that we care and haven't forgotten about them.

We are looking for uplifting letters that will bring their recipients some joy!

This month you are welcome to incorporate poetry in your theme for your letters in honor of World Poetry Day. You can incorporate the theme through art, by making your own themed cards and within the message of your letter. If you'd rather write about something else, you are welcome to do so as well. 

If you are interested in sending letters and/or art to seniors in the community, please sign up below and include in your response (in the notes) how many letters you would like to write. I will contact you with specific instructions for the letters and the address to send them to. Children are welcome to contribute also (an adult is required for minors to sign up).

 
We are looking to have this round of letters completed and received by their recipients by 03/31/2026. Please allow a couple of days for mailing and distribution. 
 
Volunteers will be required to have their own materials for the letters and any additional artwork you'd like to add, as well as stamps to mail the letters on hand (or you must be able to take them to the post office). I will try my best to provide you with one address for your letters so you can mail them together in a large envelope. 

Please allow 48 hours for me to get back to you with the instructions. 

If you are in need of community service hours, I am happy to confirm your hours for you. Please submit pictures of your letters as proof. We will be tracking and logging the actual time you spent working on the letters/cards and do NOT assign a specific number of letters per hour. Please check with your institution if they have specific requirements of how many letters you need to complete to get your hours approved.

Children younger than 13 are welcome to participate with an adult/guardian supervising and responsible for mailing the letters.

In partnership with the Humphreys County Chamber of Commerce, GNRC is hosting a digital literacy class for older adults in Waverly, TN.

Are you interested in teaching a basic computer skills class to a group of 10 older adults? 

All training and material will be provided.

This opportunity requires NO formal teaching experience or a background in IT. A basic understanding of computers is all that’s needed along with a patient demeanor and the desire to bridge the digital gap for older adults in our community.

The class schedule is flexible and will be set together with the volunteer trainer. Ideally, classes will be offered in the mornings at the Waverly Senior Center. Total class time is 15 hours of instruction. An example class schedule could be 1.5-hour class twice a week for 5 weeks.

Trainers teach 15 hours of digital skills training to members of their community who want to develop their computer skills. Trainers will be issued a Chromebook (on loan) and receive training on a ready-made curriculum to guide the course content. Trainers will also have the support of Tech Goes Home staff and GNRC.

Characteristics of good trainers: Trainers do not need to be computer wizards, but they need to be comfortable using Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Sheets. Trainers must feel comfortable searching for answers online. It is most important that trainers are patient, compassioned educators.

Time commitment: The total time commitment for trainers is about 35 hours over the course of several weeks. In addition to trainer orientation (4 hours) each course will require 3 hours of logistics and communication with the team; 15 hours of class; 5 hours of make-up class(es); 6-8 hours of prep work (about an hour per class).

Trainers may be eligible to receive a stipend for teaching the course.

The annual Dino Egg Hunt has been an all-ages community staple for over a decade. Every year we welcome around 1,000 people who travel from all over the tri-cities to attend.  This year it will be on Friday, April 3rd from 9am - 12pm. There will be multiple stations set up around the museum with a multitude of activities and a "Prehistoric Forest" where attendees will collect eggs and trade them in to Mama Dino for candy! 

Volunteers can sign up to help decorate prior to event.  During the event, you will be at a station ensuring the activity goes smoothly and other various tasks. Be prepared to have fun!

You will see the Teacher Supply Depot sign on the side of the building. There is parking in a small lot at the depot, but if it is full, you may park in the grass alongside the road.

Our volunteers work out of our Maryville warehouse in the Product Recovery area or our Repack Clean Room where we process donated and bulk food for distribution, to help feed our East Tennessee neighbors.

Volunteers also help in non-food project support roles such as cleaning, letter stuffing, and miscellaneous admin duties. 

No experience necessary! Training will be provided on-site at the beginning of the shift.

Fishing line recycling containers have been installed at each boat dock. The monofilament is collected from recycling bins and cleaned of hooks, leaders, weights, and trash. It is then shipped to the Berkley Pure Fishing company in Iowa. Berkley melts the line down into raw plastic pellets that can be made into other plastic products including tackle boxes, spools for line, fish habitats, and toys. Meet at the back porch of the Visitor Center to receive collection instructions. You will walk or drive to collect the line from the recycling containers and bring it back to the Visitor Center to process the contents as we work to preserve our shoreline, protect wildlife and prevent damage to boat propellers.

Assist staff in setting up, offering, and cleaning up an event with Vanderbilt Dyer Observatory!

This event will educate the public on telescopes, star maps, constellations, and more!

This is a monthly volunteer opportunity, that occurs on the first Saturday of every month (barring events or unforeseen circumstances), intended to assist park staff with park projects and tasks. Parks projects and task can include: invasive plant removal, trail work, trash clean-up, storm/weather debris clean-up, gardening. Projects or task vary and will be conducted according to need.

If you need to complete community service or volunteer service hours to fulfill a requirement for scholarships, graduation, fraternity/sorority obligations, etc., let us know. If you just want to come out and help us, we would be happy to have you join us.

Join David Crockett State park in improving our local environment. We will be meeting at shelter one weeding and preparing the flowerbeds for planting later in the month, and then removing invasives elsewhere in the park if time permits.

Be prepared work involving bending, shoveling, raking, pulling, and possibly using loppers. Please wear  sturdy close-toed shoes, gloves, and bring plenty of water.

The Greenway behind Oak Ridge's Rolling Hills Apartments (formerly known as the Garden Apartments) is one of the best wildflower trails in Anderson County, but it is threatened by garlic mustard, a very invasive exotic that crowds out native plants.  TCWP and Greenways Oak Ridge have been making headway in recent years in ridding the trail of this harmful plant. Volunteers are needed to help with the effort again this year.

We will meet at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 4, at the rear parking lot (near the woods) behind 101-135 West Vanderbilt Drive.

Wear sturdy shoes and weather-appropriate clothes and bring water and a digging spike or similar tool if you own one.

TCWP board member Margaret Cumberland will help with wildflower identification. The event will end with a pizza lunch at around noon.

        Lichterman Nature Center Volunteer Plan Sale Friday, April 10, 2026

If you are an outdoor person, a people person, or if you love plants this is the volunteer opportunity for you. Volunteers are needed Friday and Saturday, April 10-11, 2026, from 12:30pm-5:00pm each day. Volunteers will assist with moving plants to the sale areas, helping load plants in car (small plants mostly), assist with purchase tickets, act as greeters, and help rehouse plants at the end of the day.

Volunteers must be 16 years or older. This is an outdoor event, so please dress for the weather. All volunteers will need to sign a City of Memphis Volunteer Waiver. If you are under 18 years old, and adult must also sign the waiver.

Look forward to focused discussion panels, collection displays, authors, museums, and living historians sharing their knowledge about the Great War of 1918, the "War to End All Wars".

At Emerald Youth, Worship Arts is an essential part of our mission to help young people discover their God-given potential and experience transformative growth. We offer a mass choir (1st-7th grade) and a Gospel choir (8th-12th grade). Students have the opportunity to perform at city events (upon request) and at EYF's special events such as the Legacy Dinner and the Prayer Breakfast. We are looking for people to serve in a variety of roles to help our Worship Arts Ministry grow! Our primary needs are with our mass choir group which practice on Thursdays from 5:30-7 pm. We are seeking people who are willing to work with students on singing and/or also help with operations.

The Miracle League removes the barriers that keep children and adults with mental and physical disabilities off the baseball field and lets them experience the joy of America’s favorite pastime. Since the main barriers for the participants arise from the natural grass fields used in conventional leagues, Miracle League teams play on a custom-designed, rubberized turf field that accommodates wheelchairs and other assertive devices while helping to prevent injuries. But it’s more than playing a game. The Miracle League is about making new friends, building self-esteem and being treated just like other athletes. To help the athletes, the Miracle League uses a “buddy” system – pairing each player with an able-bodied peer. The result is a bond that cannot be described. The Miracle League serves children and adults who suffer from any physical or mental disabilities, which causes them to be excluded, whether intentionally or not, from conventional Baseball leagues.

Scheduling: Games will begin the week of April 11th - May 16th, We will be hosting a baseball opening day for all of your participants on April 18th at Domtar Park.   Games will be scheduled every Saturday at 10am ages 17 and under and 11am ages 18 and above
