The Pet Placement Center is a small facility and we rely on foster homes to be able to help more homeless animals. Foster parents are fully supported by PPC in the form of medical care, food, and adoption. We often need people to foster kittens that are too young to come into the shelter and to foster puppies/dogs for socialization. We also need fostering for some of our older pets that don't seem to adjust well in the shelter environment. This is limited commitment. Any time an animal can spend in a home helps that animal become more adoptable. This is a wonderful opportunity for those that can't make the full time commitment to a pet or would like to help an animal for a short time frame. The Salvation Army is always looking for volunteers to help prepare products for sale in our Family Store. Volunteers will help with the receiving, sorting, tagging, stocking, and rotation of merchandise donated by the general public for sale in our store.

The Salvation Army serves a noontime meal seven days per week and is always looking for volunteer groups and individuals to serve in our Community Kitchen. Volunteers may help with food prep, serving, cleaning and will have the opportunity, as desired, to interact with our guests. 

Seen any forlorn Little Libraries around the Kingsport area? Our local book-lending boxes are always in need of an "adoptive steward" to help restock, clean, spruce up and take care of them! These "Little Free Libraries" are great ways to ensure that kids and adults in our area have quick, easy access to free books--anytime!

The Habitat ReStore supports Habitat for Humanity of Cleveland's mission by providing funds through the sale of donated items to the community at reduced prices while also protecting the environment be diverting materials from landfills. Our ReStore has kept over 5,000 tons of materials our of local landfills. The ReStore is in need of volunteers to help assist customers on the sales floor and also sort, clean, and prepare donations to be sold. We have very flexible hours Monday-Saturday between the hours of 10am-5pm.

We seek volunteers to meet the needs of our diverse cultures in Scouting. We have immediate need of bilingual volunteers to help us serve our Latin community effectively.

These Volunteer workers assist the Cook by preparing equipment for cooking.  It also involves preparing ingredients for meals, including measuring, mixing and combining foods for cooking.  Handles containers of cooked food.  Serves individual portions into containers, which are then grouped according to five delivery routes with regular and sugar-free meals.  Assists with clean up of cooking utensils, stove top and ovens, as needed.  May also assist with keeping track of food in the pantry, refrigerators, and freezers.  Serve in the kitchen, located in the basement and accessed by an elevator located inside the main church building or through the loading dock.

Note: On days when Sullivan County schools or Colonial Heights Baptist Church are closed, the service is not provided.

These Volunteers, using their own vehicle and at their own expense, pick up meals on their designated delivery day(s) each month.  The meals are available between 9:15-9:45 a.m. for delivery to recipients along one of five designated routes.  The meals are identified as either regular or sugar-free and there are anywhere from approximately 8 - 18 meals per route to be delivered.  Each day, a route sheet is provided to drivers that provides detailed driving instructions that identify the shortest routes and safest roads to travel.  The route sheet also indicates which recipients get the regular or sugar-free meals.  Pick up meals adjacent to the kitchen, located in the basement and accessed from the parking lot by an elevator located inside the main church building or through the loading dock door.

Note: On days when Sullivan County schools or Colonial Heights Baptist Church are closed, the service is not provided.

Individuals needed to provide financial coaching to help people accomplish their financial goals.  Training/Certification provided.  Understanding of basic financial concepts such as budgeting, understanding credit and reducing debt is required.  Also must have a desire to help others through a one-on-one coaching relationship.

We are in need for fosterers for cats, kittens, dogs and puppies. We provide any medicine and the vetting. The fosterers provides care and socializing to the animal until the animal finds a permanent home. We provide food and litter unless the fosterer can provide their own.

This important volunteer position is to ensure adequate support is provided to the responding disaster workforce responsible for delivering Red Cross services to the Heart of Tennessee community.

This position is responsible for receiving the information regarding a house fire or other local disaster after the event occurs and dispatching the on-call Disaster Action Team in the community to respond and provide comfort and Red Cross Services. This role is also responsible for logging the details of each even in our internal system. The Duty Officer is essential in the delivery of American Red Cross services to people in one of their darkest hours. You are scheduled on a rotation based on your expressed availability.

To address hunger in our communities, the YMCA of Metropolitan Chattanooga is partnering with the USDA's Food Service Program to help provides free meals to children aged up to 18 during the summer and after school hours.

What do we need:

The YMCA is looking for Volunteers and Teams to prepare meals daily. 
Join us at the Y with our Food & Fun Program.

We have openings Monday-Friday anytime between 8am-2pm.The shifts are flexible but we ask that you be available to volunteer for at least 2 hours. Saturday mornings are available by appointment only, for a minimum of ten volunteers. 

We need volunteers to help us prepare these healthy meals to send out to the kids of the Chattanooga area! 

We prepare and make all of the meals ourselves at our Food & Fun Kitchen. It is very easy and fun! Examples of task are making sandwiches, bagging up veggies, bagging up meal items, etc. Without helping hands like yours these meals would not get prepared and sent out to kids in need of a healthy meal. The Literacy Council of Kingsport is seeking compassionate and dedicated volunteers to serve as ESL (English as a Second Language) Tutors and Adult Basic Education (ABE) Tutors for adults in our community.

Our tutors help adult learners improve their English language skills or gain basic literacy and math skills needed for everyday life, employment, and independence. As a TN SHIP/SMP (Tennessee State Health Insurance Assistance Program/Senior Medicare Patrol) Volunteer Medicare Counselor you will be assisting individuals who have questions regarding the Medicare program through one-on-one counseling over the phone, in-person, or via email. You will receive extensive training to assist Medicare beneficiaries and will be trained to provide free, non-biased and personalized counseling and referral services to a wide range of health insurance issues.

TN SHIP’s goal is to provide free, non-biased, personalized counseling and assistance to Medicare beneficiaries and their families who need the help in navigating their way through the Medicare program. SHIP provides understandable and objective information to Medicare beneficiaries on a wide range of health insurance issues. Volunteers are essential in providing these services.

Transportation is a challenge for many seniors in Nashville and providing a ride is a meaningful way to help our older neighbors get where they need to go. Senior Ride Nashville keeps older adults connected to their community by providing affordable and assisted transportation for our riders. We are looking for caring, reliable volunteer drivers to provide transportation to medical appointments, grocery stores, beauty/barber shops, community centers and more!  Your time can make a big difference in the lives of older adults in Nashville.

SRN drivers use their own vehicles and select rides based on their availability, location, and interest using an online scheduling tool. Volunteer drivers must complete an orientation and a background and motor vehicle record check before driving responsibilities begin. Records are checked on a recurring basis.

Volunteer cooks are needed for Meals on Wheels!  Volunteers arrive at 8:00 am to cook, fill containers and clean up. A shift usually takes 2 to 3 hours once a month at either Waverly Road or First Presbyterian churches.  While most cooks continue to volunteer with us for many years, new cooks should commit to at least a year (12 two hour shifts total).  Since we all have conflicts from time to time, finding a sub or a swap is easy.  We hope you'll join us!

Here at the United Way of Rhea we take requests for those unable to pay for a wheel chair ramp into their home.    We have a grant that will cover the cost of the materials.   We are in need of volunteers willing to give some time to assist the team in building them.    

We host a community garden on 1st avenue.   It is managed by volunteers and myself.    We ask anyone that wishes to pick the crop also take time to pick the weeds.     We accept donated plants and seeds for seasonal planting.

The Rhea County Veteran Coordinating Committee is always needing drivers to make trips to Murfeersboro and Nashville in the Agency van,  transporting local Vets to doctor's appointments.   

These appointments are pre-scheduled and one trip may transport several Veterans at a time.  You will also wait until they are finished and return them back to the pickup site in Rhea County.

At Caris Healthcare, we depend on support from administrative volunteers in our office - preparing mailings, helping with special events, writing note cards, making phone calls, and more. By volunteering in this capacity, we are able to devote more time to our patients.

Volunteering as an administrative/community outreach volunteer, you are helping in the office and sharing community connections. This will allow us to maximize our ability to serve families in our communities.

Caris Healthcare provides hospice volunteers to volunteer directly with patients and caregivers in their place of residence, nursing home or assisted living community. These special volunteers provide emotional, spiritual, and physical support to patients and families.

A few examples of tasks: visit with patient so a caregiver can run errands, help organize photos, letter writing, reading a book, providing spiritual reading or prayer or just be a friend that shows up and listens.

This is a non-medical position and no physical labor is required.

The coverage area is for Washington, Smyth, Grayson, Tazwell, Russell and Bristol, Virginia.

All hospice volunteers receive training to ensure that they feel comfortable performing their requested/assigned care activities. Volunteers determine the amount of time they can provide, but generally it is 1-2 hours a month!

Help us to build community through physical activity! We developed River's Way/ YMCA fitness programming to build community among people of all abilities. This program includes weight lifting, yoga and walking. Volunteers get to exercise while teaming with youth and young adults with differing abilities. The program takes place at the YMCA of Bristol and it runs from 2:00 PM- 5:00 PM, Monday- Thursday. We welcome volunteers to join us at any time during those hours.

Exchange Place Living History Farm Museum is in need of folks who enjoy maintaining buildings, grounds, and fencing.  Exchange Place relies on volunteers to keep the historic site safe and sound for the year 'round residents (sheep, chickens, horses, donkey, and cow) and for visitors to the site.  There is always a need for maintaining existing fencing (both barbed wire and historic wooden fencing) and erecting new fencing.  In the warmer months, there is always a need for lawn mowers and weed eaters too.  And there's plenty of building maintenance to be done the year 'round also.  Even an hour or two here and there of your help would be of great benefit to the site.      

Nourish has an ongoing need for volunteers.  Currently, we have 2 locations in Rutherford County.  Opportunities vary by location.  Main volunteer duties at our Smyrna and Murfreesboro direct service sites include unloading and organizing donations, packing client carts, and light cleaning.  Larger donations arrive at our Hub location and occur several times a week.  The main volunteer opportunities at this site include loading and unloading delivery trucks, assisting in deliveries to our service sites, sorting and organizing large donations, and some light cleaning.  For specific needs at our individual locations, please visit the volunteer schedule links below. We do ask that volunteers younger than 18 have an adult with them for the duration of their shift.

Food Service Groups of 5 to 10 are needed to provide, prepare and serve our community. A required orientation, training and commitment for ongoing service is a part of this volunteer opportunity.

Breakfast Service Team - 2 Volunteers - 6am to 8:30am, Mon-Fri

Food & Dining Room Prep Team (Lunch) - 4 Volunteers 8:30am to 11am, Mon-Sat

Lunch Service Team - 5 to 10 Volunteers from 11am to 1:30pm, Mon-Sat

Supper Service Team - 5 Volunteers from 4:30pm to 6:45pm, Sat and Sun

Gentiva Hospice of Murfreesboro is looking for friendly visitors (a.k.a. Direct Patient Care volunteers) to provide non-medical support to the hospice patients and their families. They can provide caregiver relief, compassionate companionship, light housekeeping, light meal preparation, and/or assist with errands. All of these kind gestures will mean a lot to our hospice patients and their loved ones. Volunteers are usually assigned at least two patients and visit weekly or biweekly, either in the patient's home or at the facility they reside.

Background check, drug screening, & TB testing are all required; however, costs are covered by the company. The on-boarding process takes about two weeks from interview to the assignment of a volunteer's first patient as we also provide orientation/training.

If you are dependable, consistent, caring and have great communication skills, this opportunity is for you! No medical background necessary!

The Fundraising Volunteer’s ultimate responsibility is to sponsor impressive and financially rewarding events that will generate funds to help Inner L.I.G.H.T Outreach grow. The objective of the Fundraising Volunteer is to meet the Board of Directors and Treasurer donation targets by approaching members of the public (‘community fundraising’), high value donors, companies, alumni, trusts and statutory bodies, or supporters leaving a legacy. He/she will understand that housing an effective event takes: organization, commitment, attention to detail, and enthusiasm. 

Will assist the Stay & Play staff with playing games and doing crafts with the children 6 months to 5 years of age. Will help in some cleaning and organizing of the Stay & Play area. Must be 14 years of age.

Sort, organize, and help community members find the free clothing they are looking for; serve the community directly. Volunteer between 8am-2pm Monday through Friday.

Handyman volunteers are needed to fix and build. Fix HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical. Build Fences,
Porches, Landscaping, Gardening, etc. Flexible volunteer schedule. This is a custom date opportunity. Presently the date is TBD

Outreach Center volunteers are needed to help with general office functions, checking in clients, helping with laundry and miscellaneous tasks. Monday through Friday 7am to 3pm.

Groups are asked to write and/or draw cards to use as notes of encouragement for our community or specialty notes during the holidays. Please do not seal envelopes.

The homeless often have a hard time finding food especially since COVID-19 has shut down many shelters! We are collecting gift cards to restaurants in the Tennessee area that we can give to the homeless so they can get hot meals when other organizations are not providing that night. 

Since school is about to start, we know so many students and families get new backpacks every year, but what do you do with your old ones? We want to collect gently used or NEW backpacks to our homeless friends. We want to make sure they have something to carry their items in once we give them the other supplies!
