Knoxville Rugby is hosting the first round of the national playoffs and needs volunteers! Men and women's teams will be coming from all over the southeast to compete in this two day tournament.

Volunteer roles will be things like running scoreboards, selling concessions, and lots more. It's sure to be a fun weekend for everyone involved, including our volunteers.

                                   Lichterman Nature Center Plant Sale

If you are an outdoor person, a people person, or if you love plants this is the volunteer opportunity for you. Volunteers are needed Saturday, April 11, 2026,26 from 8:45am-1:00pm and/ or 12:30pm-5:00pm each day. Volunteers will assist with moving plants to the sale areas, helping load plants in car (small plants mostly), assist with purchase tickets, act as greeters, and help rehouse plants at the end of the day.

Volunteers must be 16 years or older. This is an outdoor event, so please dress for the weather. All volunteers will need to sign a City of Memphis Volunteer Waiver. If you are under 18 years old, and adult must also sign the waiver.

Join us on Saturday, April 11, as the National Park Service joins forces with TCWP and East Tennessee Whitewater Club for a river-based cleanup at Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area.

The stream section to be paddled will be determined based on river flow levels and other factors. Experienced whitewater paddlers are welcome to participate, but must provide their own whitewater boat, personal floatation device, helmet, and appropriate river attire. Paddlers should be proficient in Class III whitewater.

Meetup time and location will be announced as soon as it becomes available; please check the TCWP website and/or Facebook page. Participants should bring sufficient food and water for a full day’s river trip. This event may be cancelled or modified based on weather conditions and river levels.

Volunteer to staff the United Way table at the Aging with Pride Expo at Oak Ridge Civic Center.

On Saturday April 11th at 9am meet at the Natchez Trace Maintenance Shop to help Ranger Roberts get the pontoon boats ready for the summer! Natchez Trace has two pontoon boats that need to be washed and cleaned up before we put them in the water. These boats play an important role in our park's programs and visitor experiences. Volunteers will assist with washing, scrubbing, and rinsing both pontoons helping remove dirt, algae, and buildup from the water. The park will provide all the cleaning equipment.

This a great opportunity for anyone needing volunteer hours for school or work.

Make a difference in a dog's life while enjoying the beauty of nature! Join us for a special event with Lawrence County - Lawrenceburg Animal Shelter. 

You must be able to pick up your assigned dog at the Animal Shelter. Be sure to sign up early as limited spots are available.

New Format: Two Goodwill Days in 2026! April 12 in Virginia and April 26 in Tennessee

Registration for both Goodwill Day Virginia and Goodwill Day Tennessee is now open. Goodwill Day observances at Goodwill Tenneva locations aid students needing community service to meet financial aid, scholarship, course, work ethic, graduation, college/work application, or résumé requirements. High school and college students in Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee who are age 16 plus can earn one to eight hours of community service on either April 12 at our Virginia stores in Abingdon, Bristol, Chilhowie, Richlands, and Wise or on April 26 at our Tennessee stores in Bristol, Elizabethton, Greeneville, Johnson City, and Kingsport. Registration for a limited number of available volunteer slots at each location is required. The deadline to register is the same for either state option, March 31 by 7:00 p.m.

Chin Up, Girl is seeking enthusiastic and compassionate volunteers for our Chin Up, Girl x WellPoint Mother’s Day Self Care Boutique on Saturday, May 9th at Patterson Park Community Center in Murfreesboro.

This free community event will serve approximately 150–200 women and families with clothing, self-care products, maternal resources, mini yoga sessions, wellness education, and professional Mother’s Day portraits.

Volunteer roles may include:

Bledsoe Creek State Park added a pollinator garden in 2019 with the support of Friends of Bledsoe Creek State Park and a grant from the Iris Fund. With careful selection of native perennials and self seeding annuals this area has flourished. Located adjacent to the Visitor Center, it serves as a wildlife habitat, educational tool and visual interest for passersby. In every season there are tasks we can use volunteer assistance with to maintain the pollinator garden! In the spring we apply mulch and soil amendments if needed. During the summer and fall we'll be weeding and ensuring the plant markers are visible. In the winter we will put the garden to bed being careful to maintain a habitat for pollinators to overwinter. This is a family-friendly opportunity appropriate for all ages!

Our American Roots - Periodic Tables creates opportunities to learn about different cultures and to renew bonds of friendship and community by listening one another's stories. These events are sponsored by: ORICL, Rotary Club of Oak Ridge-Breakfast, AMSE Foundation, and ORAU.

Teams of 4 people are needed to help with set-up prior to the event and break-down after the event. Setup is at 4:30 p.m. and breakdown is at 8:30 p.m.

YMCA Food & Fun Program

About Program:

To address hunger in our communities, the YMCA of Metropolitan Chattanooga is partnering with the USDA's Food Service Program to help provide free meals to children aged up to 18 during the summer and after school hours.

What Do We Need:

We need volunteers to help us prepare these healthy meals to send out to the kids of the Chattanooga, North Georgia and Cleveland areas! All meals are prepped and packed ourselves at our Food & Fun Kitchen. It is very easy and fun! Examples of tasks are making sandwiches, bagging up veggies, bagging up meal items, etc. Without helping hands like yours, these meals would not get prepared and sent out to kids in need of a healthy meal. Please consider volunteering with the YMCA's Food & Fun Program. Anyone is welcome to volunteer!

Come help spruce up our landscaping by adding mulch, planting small shrubs, trimming shrubs, weeding, etc. Necessary tools and items will be provided, but if you have work/gardening gloves, please bring them! Take note of the weather this day and wear appropriate clothing for outdoor work.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Chattanooga creates and supports 1:1 mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. We believe that all you can achieve their full potential! Our resources go into supporting in mission, so any extra help we can get toward maintenance on stretches our funds deeper into the community.

We will be deep cleaning the store. This usually requires a small amount of shifting around clothing racks and shelving units.

Other tasks will include:

Hatch's Hero is a community-based advocacy program for children and families experiencing pediatric cancer. Volunteers will help with different projects that help support these families, like STEAM project prep, video demonstrations, making cards for families, ect.

THE NEED

Ronald McDonald House provides a "home away from home" for families of children receiving medical care. Our facility offers 28 full bedrooms (each with its own full bathroom), daily meals, community kitchens, laundry facilities, play areas for children, access to mental healthcare and wellness programs to promote each family's well-being, and more — all at no cost to them, and with no time limit: families may stay with us until their child's treatment ends.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a volunteer group to "Adopt-A-Lunch" on April 17th. Your volunteer group would provide the ingredients and prepare the meal on-site in our Great Kitchen, making about 30 servings of food. You also have the option of ordering food from a restaurant.

If your group is not able to provide all of the ingredients, we can meet you halfway by drawing from our pantry for basic ingredients like pasta, rice, flour, etc.

HOW MANY VOLUNTEERS?

The ideal group size is no larger than 9 people (that's how many people can comfortably fit in our kitchen).

For a larger group (max. 20 people), you may consider doing a combination of Adopt-A-Meal and Chore Cart, which entails basic cleaning around the House (wiping surfaces, sweeping, trash pickup around the property, etc.). The group can be divided between Adopt-A-Meal and Chore-Cart during the allotted time.

Please be aware that parking spots are limited, so larger groups are strongly encouraged to carpool.

Volunteers will help put together our new garden beds (4 in total) and fill them with soil and fertilizer for our Child Enrichment Program. These garden beds will give kids the chance to get hands-on with gardening, learn where food comes from, and take pride in caring for something over time.

The garden will be used during enrichment activities to support learning around science, nutrition, teamwork, and responsibility. It also provides a calming outdoor space where kids can slow down, explore, and build confidence as they watch their plants grow.

Volunteers are needed to assemble four new garden beds and plant vegetables in the rear area; refresh the current garden beds in front area; and sanitize toys/books and dining room area

What should volunteers wear?
Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing that can get dirty, along with closed-toe shoes.   

Where should they park?

Help transform our thrift store’s women’s section into a modern shopping destination! Remove outdated fixtures, patch and paint walls with an accent color, rearrange display furniture, deep clean the floors, and reorganize clothing racks to showcase designer and seasonal items.

Parking: Available at the Thrift Store and our office building next door. Street parking also available.

What to Wear: Closed-toe shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty or painted.

What to Bring: Water bottle.

Supplies: All tools will be provided. If you have any of the following and would like to bring them, you’re welcome to: drill, spackle, putty knife, sandpaper, paint, brushes/rollers, or paint tape.

Transform our thrift store layout! Help reorganize merchandise sections, move shelving units and display furniture, relocate inventory to create new featured shopping areas, and consolidate items for better organization. Great for volunteers who enjoy hands-on work and transforming spaces!

Parking: Available in the shared lot in front of our Red Bank Thrift Store.

What to Wear: Closed-toe shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty or painted.

What to Bring: Water bottle.

Supplies: All tools and supplies will be provided.

Bring new life to our thrift store by painting the register counter in vibrant blue and refreshing bathroom doors and frames in clean off-white. Create a welcoming, professional environment that uplifts everyone who visits. Perfect for detail-oriented volunteers!

Parking: Available in the shared lot in front of our Soddy Daisy Thrift Store (located next to Food City).

Revitalize our auditorium entryway with paint! Tackle one large wall, touch up another, and refresh two stairwells (scraping and painting required). At least 2-3 volunteers comfortable with ladders needed. This is a great opportunity to create an inspiring entrance for student performances!

Supplies: All tools will be provided. If you have any of the following and would like to bring them, you’re welcome to:  paint brushes, paint scraper tools, goggles to protect eyes while scraping.

Here at Hunter, we have two interior courtyards, Soaring Space 1 and Soaring Space 2, and we have been fortunate to receive seating areas and a canopy in each space. However, these spaces are still in need of additional attention and improvements.

We are seeking assistance with placing crossties and spreading mulch to help elevate and level uneven areas. Our goal is to create a clean, safe environment where students can enjoy an alternative space for learning.  Not only will these spaces offer areas of learning for student they will give our other exceptional education students a place to go and enjoy the outdoors in a safe environment.  Please help us let our students SOAR in a new environment.

Volunteer as an individual or group in a warehouse environment while working cooperatively with other volunteers and staff.  Typical volunteer activities include sorting food, re-packaging bulk food, packing food boxes, packing Sack Packs, labeling canned goods, and performing scheduled sanitation tasks.

Food distribution is a hands-on volunteer activity. Activities could include assisting with stocking shelves, unloading and moving food, sorting and distributing food, sorting and bagging produce, and cleaning up.  Volunteers must be willing and able to work with people of different backgrounds and nationalities, exhibit compassion and sensitivity, and maintain strict confidentiality of all guest and volunteer information. 

LIFT Youth Center's Mission: Creating opportunities for students to be Loved as they are, Inspired to be more, Found in community, and Trusted to make a difference. LIFT accomplishes this by providing TWO Youth Centers to serve 6th-12th grade Catoosa County students with a free afterschool program. Our vision is a community where students discover and achieve a healthy, successful future. Between the two centers we hope to serve 500 students this school year.

On 4/17 a group will work at our Youth Center in Ringgold to help it shine! We'll do some landscaping (weed control, mulching and pine straw), do some deep cleaning of the inside and outside of the Youth Center, wash and detail our vans, and pick up any trash we can find around the property. It is difficult to find the time to accomplish these tasks, so these volunteers spending this time helping us take good care of our physical plant is a big gift!

There is plenty of parking at the Youth Center. There will be low and high impact jobs to do. Close-toed shoes would be wise. All tools and materials will be provided - you may want to bring work gloves. Water and shade will be provided as needed, but you may want to wear sunscreen. We will also have a group do this at our Youth Center in Fort Oglethorpe.

Arrive at 9:00am and proceed to the plaza in front of the Zoo. Someone will be there to meet you. That will give us enough time to get you checked in and to your assignment for a 9:30 am start. 

Park in the Zoo's parking lot. Parking is free.

Dress in casual clothes. All volunteers must wear closed toed shoes. Please bring a refillable water bottle. We do our best to help the environment by not providing water in plastic bottles. Please bring sunscreen if needed.

Make sure to bring your completed, signed Group Volunteer Waiver and Release Form on each volunteer (see attachment). These will be collected when you arrive. 

Please plan on working until 12:00pm. If you are planning on having lunch, please know the Zoo may or may not have any open food concessions. It is based on weather and attendance. But there are picnic tables just outside the Zoo if you want to bring a bag lunch, or a couple of fast food restaurants near the Zoo. 

Project: Substrate Change. Volunteers will be shoveling substrate material (i.e. sand, mulch, or limestone) and/or pushing wheelbarrows. (Tools will be provided by the Zoo).

Volunteers will help transform a disorganized storage space into a fully functional, easy-to-use storage area. This project includes sorting existing items, categorizing supplies, labeling shelves, determining bins needed, and setting up a layout that makes items easy to find and maintain. Volunteers will work together to create an organized system that supports daily operations and saves staff time moving forward. 

Please note: This is a tight space, so the project is limited to a small group of 3–5 volunteers. Teamwork, flexibility, and comfort working in close quarters are important. Volunteers should be organized-minded and comfortable working with minimal direction, using good judgment and teamwork to create an efficient system.

Volunteers will help refresh and maintain our outdoor spaces by clearing debris, removing litter, trimming overgrowth, and cleaning out a large ditch.

Work will be outdoors and may involve bending, lifting, and working on uneven ground. Volunteers should dress appropriately. Gloves and some tools will be provided however gas-powered trimmers, chainsaws and additional landscape supplies are helpful.

This is a hands-on project with immediate, visible impact—perfect for individuals or groups who enjoy working outside and making a difference.

Volunteers should be comfortable walking, standing, squatting, and lifting up to 15 pounds. With advance notice, some seated tasks can be arranged. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone curious about native plants, eager to learn about local ecosystems, or simply looking to enjoy a nice morning outdoors.

For 35 years, Assistive Technology (AT) Services, a program of Signal Centers, has worked to eliminate barriers by empowering individuals with disabilities to navigate a technology-driven world with greater independence. Assistive technology includes any tool or device that enhances independence and improves quality of life.  

As AT approaches its 35th anniversary, we are seeking volunteers to help refresh and revitalize the center in celebration of this milestone!   With a little TLC, we can ensure the space reflects the innovation and empowerment that define the program’s impact.

For this Spring Day of Caring, Chattanooga Parks and Outdoors is partnering with the Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association (SORBA) to show a little love to Stringer's Ridge. We plan on cutting back overgrowth to improve sightlines on the hiking/biking trails, picking up litter, restoring trail features through landscaping, and more. 

Parking: Please use the Spears Avenue Trailhead located at 1312 Spears Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37405. Carpooling is strongly encouraged, as parking is limited.

Physical Requirements: Volunteers must be able to lift 25 lbs independently and be fully ambulatory. Volunteers will need to be able to help haul equipment up from the trailhead to the project site using wheelbarrows/carts/etc...

Attire: Please wear closed-toed shoes, pants, and a breathable shirt. Volunteers without closed-toes shoes will not be able to participate. Please bring sunscreen if necessary. 

Equipment: All equipment for this project will be provided. 

Food/Drink: We will provide snacks and water for participants. We encourage all Volunteers to bring a personal reusable water bottle.

Join us Friday, April 17, for a workday on Whitehouse Cliffs Trail. We will be repairing a section of eroded trail bed. If there’s time left over, we will trim branches at the overlook. This is strenuous work; we will be hauling tools and gear up our steepest trail, nearly 1,000 feet of elevation gain in a mile. We will also be moving rock, logs and digging trail bed at the jobsite. Please bring water, snacks, gloves and dress for spring weather.

This opportunity is strenuous due to the elevation climb and nature of work. We are seeking 5-7 volunteers for this project. Please call our ranger station if you have any questions regarding this workday.

We're looking for a group to continue the project started last year to cut back and remove overgrown bushes behind our Victim Support Services building. The growth has begun to reach nearby electrical lines, so this is a priority for safety. Please bring your own tools.

We're looking for volunteers to build sturdy shelves and benches from pallets for our food pantry and entryway. The entryway also serves as our designated tornado holding area, so having seating available for clients is especially important. Pallets will be provided. Please bring your own tools!

The Kingsport Public Library is seeking volunteers to assist us at the Kingsport ARTS Festival. The event will be in Downtown Kingsport and run from 12-5. The volunteer will help with running our booth and helping patrons with crafts we are providing. The volunteer will help our staff set up the booth, clean and pack up at the end of the festival. Girl Scouts of Southern Appalachians is excited to participate in the Northeast Tennessee Day of Play, a free, family-centered community event taking place on April 18 from 10:00 AM–1:00 PM at Unicoi High School.

Day of Play is designed to encourage families to get active, connect with local organizations, and discover opportunities available to children throughout our region. The tenth annual South Knoxville Community Cleanup will be held on Saturday, April 18th, 2026 from 9am-12pm! The event base will be at Chapman Square, located at 4409 Chapman Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37920.   

We will be removing litter from South Knoxville roads, creeks, and parks. Participants of any age are welcome! We look forward to seeing those who live, work, or play in South Knoxville - as well as anyone who wants to lend a helping hand. There are four volunteer options.

Lend a hand where the forest needs it most - help clear storm-fallen trees along the Grundy Forest Day Loop!

Volunteers will work alongside park staff to lift, carry, and naturally disperse downed branches and tree material along the trail corridor. This is hands-on physical work and will involve working on uneven terrain, encounter thorns, and being outdoors for the duration of the event.

Volunteers will assist with general office cleaning tasks including dusting, vacuuming, mopping floors, wiping down surfaces, cleaning restrooms, tidying common areas, and taking out trash. This is a meaningful, hands-on way to support the Center's mission without any special skills or experience required.

Join Rock Island Park Rangers on Earth Day! Do you need volunteer hours for school, scouts, or something else? We have you covered with an amazing volunteer event! Meet us at the Sandbar Beach at the end of Beach Road at 10:00 AM for our River Clean Up.

Volunteers will be expected to move along the sandy beach, through the river gorge, and along trails to pick up trash and other debris. There is always plenty of litter and debris to go around for everyone! Trash bags, gloves, and other equipment will be provided by the park. This volunteer opportunity is great for individuals or groups who are looking to earn hours or just give back to our parks. Please wear sturdy and appropriate shoes and proper clothing for the weather and working outdoors.

Help us prepare our planters for spring! Chattanooga Parks and Outdoors is searching for volunteers who are ready to get their hands dirty in exchange for the gratification of knowing you made our city a little more beautiful. 

Volunteers will support staff in planting 50 planters with annuals along Broad Street, in the center median between W 3rd and W Aquarium Way.

This is a great opportunity for volunteers to serve close to home- in their own community. Our truck and staff will arrive with food and volunteers will work together to assist in the distribution of the food items to those in need. Volunteers must be able to stand for the duration of shift, as well as lift, bend and carry boxes to vehicles.

This food distribution is outdoors, please plan to dress according to the weather.

The Downtown Maryville Alliance's annual food and wine tasting fundraising event, Uncorked, is coming back this April and needs hands-on volunteers to help make the event run smoothly. Shifts are organized by duty and location and range from 2-3 hours. Whether you're serving wine, greeting guests or helping to clean up, there are numerous places to serve! Shifts will be available between 10am and 11pm. Just let us know what works best!

We are looking for volunteer painters to help us paint as much of Beesley Animal Foundation as possible while we are closed for the weekend (Friday 4/24 & Saturday 4/25). This includes the Beesley Animal Clinic. We share a building and hope to get the first coat done on Friday and the second on Saturday.  If needed, we can do shifts.

We will have all paint supplies- paint, rollers, pans, dropcloths. Staff will be on hand too! 

Come help out during the Horton 100!

The Horton 100 is a two-day, fully supported cycling event hosted at Henry Horton State Park. Volunteers are needed with rider registration and general event support! All volunteers will report to the Lodge at the start of their shift for instructions. This event qualifies for TN Promise hours. If there is a specific time you would like to assist, please email the site coordinator.

Volunteers can assist with rider check in, packet distribution, and general event questions during the following times:
